missus went to work yesterday and locked car as norm via the key fob , after doing her 12hr shift she couldnt get the car to open using the key fob so had to use the key itself, once in it just wouldnt start.
so this morning took other spare set of keys with her to try that fob but still no opening or starting .
any ideas???

Take it to a Rover dealer, get them re-programmed.

Once your in the car with the key in the ignition, alternately press down the button fobs (about 10 seconds each) and the system may syncronise itself. Little used Rovers always seemed to throw up this fault, especially if the fob or car battery were low.

Not if the battery is ok.;)
  • It wouldn`t start because the immobiliser had not been deactivated by the fob.
There is a code for each alarm, which relates to the number of times that you turn the lock to disarm it.

Mine was 3363 .. ie.... Key in the door lock.... Turn to the Left 3 times.... Right 3 times... Left 6 times... Right 3 Times.

But you need the alarm code for your car.

  • Could be.... but mine wasn`t. Got it when I had the alarm reset at Rover...... About 25 quid.

    Best of luck
