This is where I disagree with you. If the LL wishes to define what is "unreasonable", or wishes to be the sole arbitrator of what is reasonable, this should be written into the contract. As he has chosen not to, it would be for a court to decide what is "unreasonable". The OP has indeed agreed to the Ts&Cs in the contract, as has the landlord - they both should abide by them equally.
Hence why I stated that the landlord should have explained why he felt it was reasonable to decline the request. Then on that basis the judgement of reasonability can be gauged. From the insulting nature of many of the posts, I disagree that they were written by reasonable people.
Although many have thrown insults (which I do not agree with by the way) most have indeed disagreed with the OP.I totally disagree with this - but it may be a typo.
I agree, this was incorrect, I should have said, the OP does not "own" this house but should ofcourse regard it as their home.I also think the OP should not waste much energy on this, but I think he/she should be allowed to chew the fat on a subject without being abused. I really don't see why some people are getting so troubled by such a minor matter that they lose the ability to behave in a civil manner.
I agree with you here. However, it does seem that considering the OP doesn't even want to live in this property for the long term then this is more hassle than its worth."Dance like nobody's watching; love like you've never been hurt. Sing like nobody's listening; live like its heaven on earth." - Mark Twain0 -
Good grief. Some poor !!!!!! wants to put a bracket on a wall and has promised his landlord that he'll make it good, is refused, and this goes to 8 pages.
I really despair of this country. I think someone needs to explain to some landlords that they arent actually real lords...0 -
Gee, I dunno maybe the plaster on the walls is friable and the whole lot will need to come down and redone. Maybe the OP is planning to fix this thing somewhere that might cause a rupture to a water-pipe or electrical cables underneath. Apart from willfully going against the landlord's wishes, and they have every right withhold permission, the OP could be risking a whole heap of misery.
Something in the corner of my heart is telling me that this could be well-deserved.0
