I'm seeing £67 ABZ-LGW return, or £53 ABZ-LTN return at the end of July - both direct EasyJet flights.

How much cheap were you expecting them to be? A super advance train ticket won't be much cheaper, and will take much longer.
Prices will only increase because you are looking at a popular travel period.

    can you travel from Edinburgh?

Flybe operate direct flights from Edinburgh to Manston in Kent.

Obviously dependant on where in kent you wnat to go.

But rule of thumb is earlier you book, the better prices you get.

    regards

  • ...both! I didnt know what to expect cost wise..havent used a plane in a long time! I did cost train and bus and you are right not much difference cost but also longer. Of course theres the added cost for luggage seems to be £18 per person. Ive never heard of Manston, my friend lives on Sittingbourne.
Malkie, what site you looking at?
    Thanks

I'm looking at EasyJet.com £58 (if paying by Visa Electron) - yes, a hold bag will cost £18, or travel with hand luggage only.

North east scotland to south east england isn't bad for £58, particularly during school holidays. I can't imagine them offering you a 1p flight on that route at that time of year.

You still have to add on the cost of getting to Sittingbourne - you'll have to go into London Victoria by train and get another one from there - it's about 2 hours & the fares are about the same as for the flight (£29.90 NO reductions for booking in advance)

You can get the train from Aberdeen to Sittingbourne from £18 each way though it is over 9 hours. It's possible to do it with a single change of train starting with the 07:52 from Aberdeen and when you arrive in London walk next door to St Pancras and take the 16:52 to Sittingbourne

You could also consider the sleeper train run by Firstscotrail - bargain berths start at £19 each way plus the cost of London to Euston. It means you travel when you sleep and could be at your friends by 10:00am

Also don't forget a Family & Friends Railcard will save about a third on these prices and your daughter will probably travel half price

Maybe an assumption, but I'm guessing their friends will collect them from Gatwick.
12 hours on a train, or 1hour in orange heaven?

As far as I'm aware, Easyjet only go to Luton from ABZ, not LGW.

Thanks for that. Rotten flight times though, not arriving at LGW until 10pm.
