In my area you can hand in your book at any council office for seperate recycling.

Good for you, shredding them up an putting them in the compost bin is an excellent way of recycling them. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

We can recycle them, but have to take them to the recycling centre where they're kept seperatly and stacked up in a big cage. Where they go after that is a mystery. If it's landfill I prefer to remain in blissful ignorance.0

There are some non-dodgy businesses in the Yellow Pages, but the problem is it is full of dodgy businesses, which is why it is always recommended never use a company out of the Yellow Pages simply by looking through the Yellow Pages. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

No worries, I never meant to imply every business was dodgy. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... They maybe do, but in our area the council doesn't accept them as the quality is low on these.
They get more cash for recyclates if they are better quality paper, yellow pages would be contamination in our area.
They can of course be recycled separately. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

thanx, didn't know that
so thats why they ask you not to put yellow pages in with the rest of the paper.
I always wondered why that was!0
