Hi
I am looking to buy (as cheaply as possible) a new desktop pc as my old one is ready for the scrap heap.
My priorities are decent speed and memory and preferably with Windows 7. Microsoft office a bonus.
Anyone know of any good deals?
Thanx :A

How much do you have to spend?
Do you need a monitor?
How many hours per week do you have spare to deal with virus checking, firewalls, malware and BSODs?Hope over Fear. #VoteYes0 -
Monitor fine but not very technical so wasnt sure if i could just plug into new tower:o
Not much time to so security checks etc
Hopefully spend no more than £200-300
Thanks0 -
Here is somewhere to start.

I've always liked the VOSTRO machines from Dell. They're intended for business use and are no-nonsense workhorses. It obviously depends on whether you want to use the machine for gaming or processor-intensive work. In which case, the entry-level kit might not be to your needs. I've used these for everyday computing needs. Dell used to offer these at a start price of around £230. See Dell Outlet too.
Not sure if this helps.0 -
Has taken me hours but the speed has improved greatly :j Still a few other problems but will tackle them tomorrow and maybe I will be able to save a few £££'s
Thank you0 -

Did you install activepcoptimizer or ccleaner? Install the correct ccleaner either from the link above (but untick the google toolbar during the install), or use this http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/slim
install cleanmem from here.
http://www.pcwintech.com/cleanmem
click download mirror1, run the setup, then
in windows explorer, go to c:\windows\tasks, click on the clean system memory task, schedule, advanced, and change it from every 30 minutes to every 5 minutes, then ok, ok
find the mini_monitor under c:\program files\cleanmem, run it, and click on the icon created near the clock, set it to run at startup
do you use messenger plus, did you do the full malwarebytes scan?
uninstall mcafee spamkiller and acvtivepcoptimizer
download autoruns http://live.sysinternals.com/autoruns.exe, and stop these running at startup using it
