Also, the groups were split from 20 to 40. This explains why your car appears to have a sudden 'jump'. They havent moved it within the original 20 groups, they've moved it within 40.
It's actually gone from 20 to 50 groups. Mine's gone from group 11 to 23 but it hasn't made any difference - my insurance cost still went down.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try - oh bu99er that just cheat :D

Because there are more and more bad, careless, reckless and stupid drivers than ever before. All drivers have to subsidise these! More traffic police we need!

Count yourselves lucky, I'm a 20 year old male with 0 years NCB. My insurance would cost at least 4 times what the car is worth.

The "value" of the cover you are getting is worth a lot more than 1000 times your car's worth.

You are being insured against much more than damage to your car!
  • i just got a quote on your astra i valued it at 4k as i have no idea what they are worth that seemed reasonable

do you live in bagdad or something im 28 - 9 years no claims and - 6 points

  • We've just renewed our Tesco insurance for our 3.0 Chrysler 300C, at a cost of £380. Our renewal was originally quoted as £480, but when DH rang to discuss ways of reducing premium (ie is 19,000 miles cheaper than 20,000 miles per year), the guy went through all the details of our quote, and discovered that a computer error from when they transferred over to a new system gave us both driving license pass dates of 2007 instead of 1990 ish! He corrected the dates and the price went down.

NB I'd gone through all the comparison sites and Tesco were still cheaper - I was amazed because every year it's never the current insurer that's the cheapest.
  • well your current insurer will never be cheaper as they hope that you will just renew automatically and not bother shopping around
  • heres a quote on a £50k porsche cayman S
i never seem to get these high quotes people get must be lucky - there were some high ones. shame i can afford to insure it but not buy it lol

Try Adrian Flux. They managed to find me a plain vanila policy for £340 for a 2l diesel car. 3rd party with Protected NCB.

The next nearest was with Admiral at £453 through the comparison sites, fully comp with things like courtesy car, protected NCB, windscreen and legal cover, stuff I wasn't interested in paying an extra £110 due to the age of my car.

Last year I was with Quinn and they threw everything in, including UK breakdown cover for £360. This year has been a rip-off.

It took me ages to find reasonble quotes. I started looking last december, the cheapest quote then was over £600.

I maintain that these companies have lost money in the money markets, since that is where our premiums are invested and, are trying to recoup their losses from the drivers. Every year they have used the excuse of uninsured drivers - that one is wearing thin.

I see all the quality companies want to insure you and with a minimum £500 excess.
