and walking is much better for your health than driving.

A cycle bike is another good option and alternative. :)
  • My OH had the exact same problem with More Than in December. His renewal quote went up from just under £500 to nearly £900 even though he has 11 years no claims. When we looked for quotes most of them were over £1000 despite having the exact same car as the year before (I wonder if this is because of the insurance group changes the OP has mentioned). Eventually (It took 2 days of negotiation) we got a multi car policy with admiral but we had to agree that I would be insured with them from May. His came down to just under £600 with an additional £150 to be paid when mine is due in May to cover me from May until December (I'm not going to complain as my quotes were coming out at around £400 for the year).
    It
One thing that is worth trying!!! If you have a partner, see if it makes a difference to add them to your insurance. I work in, what is considered to be, a high risk profession but it still lowered his insurance when I was added and vice versa when he was added on mine. It's also convenient if one of the cars is out of action as we can both drive them.

Ridiculous suggestions. Do you also recommend anorexia as a cure for obesity?

The insurance grouping scale changed not too long ago, moved from (IIRC) 20 groups to 50.

Who should investigate car insurance companies? It's a free market and there are many companies to choose from. They are free to quote and you are free to shop around. Have a look at the very helpful guide on the MSE website to help you do this.
