I was banned for 6 months which "society" has deemed a fit punishment for my offence. I have served that sentence and a self imposed one for some considerable time afterwards.

Yes, and "society" has also deemed that the offence is not spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act until 5 years from the date of conviction, and thus "society" is very happy that drivers with a history of poor driving are charged for insurance according to their risk.
  • Some battered old Rovers can be quite highly rated, insurance wise, especially the V8 variety.

Well lets not get started on that... the TT99 is officially spent after the ban is served under the rehabilition of offenders act and I suspect insurance companies are aware of that. But for fear of non disclosure I/we tell them about it :)
    ! Total Noob !
  • TT99 is totting up. This shows you routinely drive in a manner contrary to the law. The fact you have an old banger imo looks worse as it looks like you have little to care about as your own car is a heap.

Frankly I think a 3k insurance quote for someone who has been banned and is driving a reasonably large banger is fair. What age are you? how long you had a licence? Location? length of ban? no claims?

If these are further aggravating then seems actually fine to me.

How much no claims bonus do you have ?

P.S A TT99 or other ban must be declared as the rehabilitation refers to the points being wiped off your licence, you still need to declare for 5 years to Insurers

Typically a fine is also imposed alongside the TT99; in which case the rehabilitation period applicable overall is whichever is the longer -the rehabilitation period for the disqualification (the length of the disqualification) or the rehabilitation period for the fine (5 years).

I picked up a SP30 ticket on a mercy dash to pick up my daughter, 3 points £60, please dont tell me I could have got off ?
I thought it was just a game, they try to catch you out breaking their rules, if you get caught you pay up, or am I missing something ?

It was a sarcastic retort to his post#3, not advice on how to try and get off an offence

What's your definition of a "mercy dash".

Was she about to have a kidney tranplant and it was vital she got to hospital whilst the organ was viable?
or do you mean her burger was getting cold?

In a genuine emergency (such as imminent childbirth) the police can wipe your points and they will often give you a police escort too.

"Does anyone know where I may be able to find cheaper a broker of some description maybe (this one was with Adrianflux) ? " (original Q asked by OP)

as per Rev Henry & CTE1111 better option might be try quotes with a car with a lower grouping. Have you held any Insurance since you ban ended in Aug 2008 and aqquired NCD? if you do not have any ncd you prob wont qualify for Intro discounts that may be offered due to the TT99.
