Hi All!
I'm new to this board- got engaged in October and only started properly thinking about wedding things in the last fortnight.
We're hoping for our wedding to be October 2012 (even though my mum's trying to get me to go for summer instead...!)
Anyway, i've noticed that it seems to be a good idea to sort out the colour scheme early as lots of other decisions are sort of based around that (bridesmaid dresses, cake, flowers etc!). I'm not the most creative type, and I'm open to ideas for nice colour schemes!
If anyone is willing to share theirs and their ideas for what things they will have to compliment their scheme it would be lovely to hear from you!!

H2be will have silvery waistcoat and purple cravat
bestman/ushers/my dad and his dad will have purple waistcoats and cravats
I have purple bouquet
H2be had purple button hole
Bridesmaid has purple dress
Bridesmaid has white flowers with purple tips to petals
bestman/ushers/my dad and his dad have white/purple button hol
Save the dates were purple
Invites are purple and silver
Table decorations are purple
Chair covers have purlel sash
Purple swagging on top table
Purple flowers on ceremony table to be moved to top table..
Either purple cupcakes or cake with purple ribbon and bow with diamate ( I haven't decided yet! lol)
That's pretty much how the colours have been used so far
Purple is very 'in' right now so lots of purple things around. I chose it because it's my favourite colour, rather than being in fashion but it does make things easier0 -
Hello and welcome to the board!
My colour scheme started as Lilac and Ivory but is now any shade of purple and ivory!I found it makes it a lot easier to find stuff if you are not too specific about shades of colours, but then again some people like to have theirs all in the same shade.
I think purple is a very popular colour and so I have found it very easy to get items it fit my colour scheme. If you pick a more unusual colour you need to bear in mind that it maybe harder to source items in that colour.
I didn't have a colour scheme in mind when I started mine came from the BM dresses I chose.

Depending on how much you really want a rigid scheme, you might find it easier not to have one.
I dont, which means I'm not worrying about finding the right colour bridemaid dresses, matching ties for the men, co-ordinating stationary etc.
I just see what I like & go for it, which cut out a lot of stree that I see other people having when they can't find the right shade.
It is nice to have some co-ordinating, but I just don't have the patience for it!0 -

My colour scheme is Dusky Pink (well, various shades of darker pinks)
I chose it based on what suited my bridesmaids as i had no particular preference, i didn't see any point in choosing a specific colour and then making bridesmaids wear a colour dress that may look horrid on them.:jProud mummy to a beautiful baby girl born 22/12/11 :j0 -
Mine is gold/champagne and white - with a highlight colour (maybe a very light pink). My sister is my bridesmaid and I remember her wearing a champagne coloured dress to a school dance and I thought she looked beautiful in the colour (it matched her hair and skin tone!) so that's the reason I chose that as one of the main colours!0

Ours is dark blue with hot pink accents.
The bridesmaids dresses are blue and they'll have hot pink bouquet. Our chair sashes and glassware are blue but the flowers in the centrepieces will be hot pink.
We're using the pink to contrast with the blue and make it 'pop' more iyswim!0
