Pigpen – I know I’m new here so maybe I should butt out – but like others I am finding the “Christian” attitude you are encountering uncaring to say the least.

I may have become slightly confused about which Churches have said what and which ones the Sunday School is at, but, if you really want your DD baptised within a particular denomination, and you think you are either being ignored, or your KW has been economical with the truth causing you to be given meaningless reasons for a refusal, I suggest that you telephone the Vicar/Minister and politely request a meeting - they really shouldn't refuse – take OH, or a friend – perhaps even one who attends Church regularly, for support. Be firm, but fair – tell them how you feel – including that you have been in tears over this, what you feel your commitment is, and ask for their full reasons why they won’t baptise your DD. Personally, even if I am given a truthful answer I don’t like, but it’s legitimate, at least I know why and can go forward from there. If it’s for geographical reasons, clarify their catchment area – and ask which Church within their denomination is within your area. If you can’t get a meeting, or an answer you are happy with, take it to the next level up – in the Methodist Church that would be the Superintendent Minister for the District, CofE would be the Bishop – there’s nothing to lose and this is obviously important enough to you that you will take comfort from knowing that a christening can take place.

I do think that you are not going to get far with the RC – I suspect that when they are saying the parents should be baptised – they are actually saying “within the RC”.

Sorry if I’ve spoken out of time, but I don’t want my Flying Leader :A upset over this one.

Now I have to talk flying so I don’t disqualify myself.

Well, who would like to join me for a HH later this afternoon when I try to work out why the washing machine is flooding the kitchen – round about 5.00 pm? I’ll confirm the time later so other flyladies can join me. :rotfl:

well. since i couldnt put the shopping away i have had to re arange my kitchen. so far i have
emptied freezer and disposed of stuff that we wont eat (like we got a chicken curry on bogof but it was minging so thesecond one went out of date in 2009)
done the same to the fridge
sorted out the small freezer and fridge, re organised it all and literally pushedthe stuff in.

moved the big fridge freezer to the other side of the kitchen, done the same with the wee ones.
re arranged the cupboards and got rid of empty jars etc (why they were there i will never know)
    repaired the tumble dryer
    washing machine is on
now i just need to finnish off, might aswel bleach the place wile im at it. another hour and thats me done.

suposed to be going to zumba again tonight, if i get there it will be a miricle
  • pigpen - I'm not a churchgoer but I always thought that a baptism was a welcoming into God's family for the babe? So where does 'circumstances surrounding her birth' come into it - and the fact that s/he actually said that at all - sorry, but can't repeat my thoughts on that one. It's obviously upsetting you though so I hope that you get what you want for Freja. x

I think this is extremely bad manners. I sent out 50 invites 2 weeks ago for DH's 50th party and have only received 1 RSVP. It's just so rude.
I agree! Mr LW's Sis2 didn't RSVP when we got married - he had to ring her up the week before the wedding to find out that she couldn't be @rsed to attend!

Hope your DS3 is OK, btw - I skimmed the "ick" bit, as I'm feeling a bit icky myself today, but got the gist.
    - does 3 hours watching Andy Murray count?:D - am up and dressed now though!
erm.... who's Andy Murray, please? *prepares to feel very foolish for not knowing*

Lil_me we have a Bosch washer dryer for the two of us, and I find it OK; I don't often use the dryer facility, only when there's stuff like bedlinen and it's not able to be dried outside, or on the rare occasions a particular item is needed immediately. Small stuff I chuck on the A-frame over the bath if I can't line-dry.

As mentioned above, I'm feeling rough today - have managed to eat a Quorn sandwich for lunch though, and *crosses fingers* it seems to be staying down. So I'm not sure that I'll manage to clean windows/pictures/mirrors etc..... I hope I don't get a fluffy mule chucked at me.:(

On a happier note, Dilly Doglet is here, and has settled in nicely - I have her til Sunday evening. I thought she was going to wag her little tail right off when she came in!:D

Just came back from minor injuries unit. I rang the doctor's like a couple of you suggested but was told they didn't have the dressings for young children! He is steri-stripped to oblivion. Not to get wet for 5 days.

It was the same Nurse Practitioner who tended to my broken hand. She was horrified at the state my hand is in. She listened to the sorry tale of treatment and mismanagement and apologised for the inadequacy of the NHS she also told me off the record that I must sue.

We decluttered a Mcdonalds on the way back:D.

Pigpen - have you tried writing to your old Vicar - the one KH has told the tall stories to? If you now live in a different area and he agrees to perform the Baptism then you would have to get confirmation from the Vicar of your Parish was in agreement with this. You are excellent with words and I believe you could make your case very eloquently. Copy it to the Area Dean and if you still get no joy involve the Dishop of your diocese.

Tell me why you're storing all this - not another tiny pigpen in the offing :rotfl:

I'm following orders and off to declutter tea and cakes with friends :D
