I think i'll give all of them a whirl except the salmon, i hate salmon, as there is only 2 of us we should be able to make it stretch too. I will keep an eye and see if they make more.

i saw this when i was doing a sainsbury online shop. i was thinking i wonder why there weeks only have 5 when i have 7,lol.

i like sainsburys recipes, but i remeber doing one it was a chicken and lentil hot pot thingy, and omg it made a huge amount. fed us 5 , plus i gave 3 portions to my mum. that meal was very good value.

I took it to mean a average working week which for most people is 5 days long mon-friday.

For a lot of people weekends are hetic and they don't cook or sit down to meals together as a family.

  • Thanks Bramble1,a menu plan that would actualy suit my family, and i dont mind thats its only 5 days..allows for the addition of a couple of "bung in the oven" dinners that OH has to organise when im at work..
or even a wee takeaway at the weekend cos we've only spent £20 during the week;)
As others have mentioned tho..very good marketing ploy from Sainsburys, especialy targeted at someone like me who is currently thinking about changing to a monthly online shop,,,the weekly meal planner thing complete with shopping list and price just could swing it in their favour(depends on delivery charges tho,i still need to check those out),but ,thanks again

    Thanks for posting this.

I'm trying to cut down my weekly spend even further and this should easily work for me!

And you're right Cooking Mama.... £20 a week mon-fri means sneaky take away sat and left overs/ store cupboard food on Sunday (or I'll sneak along to my parents for a feeding!)

Is anyone else surprised that there is meat (or fish) in all of these meals? I would have expected to see one vegetarian suggestion - I've seen various posters around about 'veggie mondays' and things and thought it was accepted as a healthy idea.

Or do they make a lot less money from veggie shoppers or something?

Do you still have the recipe? If so, could you post it please. TIA :D

  • I saw this in a booklet form this week - if you take a look at the "nutritional wheel" it's mostly in orange/red so not really very healthy :S

I was surprised that there wasn't a meat-free day, it would be easy enough to have mushrooms and peppers on the pizza instead of salami.

I do think it's good for people who don't already meal plan but there's not only the argument that it's only a five day meal plan when there are seven days in a week but also that it's only dinner and doesn't include lunch or breakfast. £20 for 5 meals would probably end up doubled or more once you add in the weekend, lunches and breakfasts.

Still as I said, I agree it's good for those who don't already meal plan and need a starting point and aside from not being veggie-friendly those are some tasty sounding meals that I'd guess most families would eat.
