Is there a Free Android satnav

I was wondering if anyone knew of a free android satnav that did not need internet access. Ie. loads the maps to the phone so works like a normal satnav?

but that is assisted satnav meaning you need to access the internet as well as GPS signal. Unless you set the route before hand and not deviate from it, which is the reason why I asked. i might need to use a diverted route cause of an accident or the common place roadworks and assisted satnavs then fail if you not have internet access.

Yes I am being cheap in that I not want to use my data package on it.

You're always going to need the GPS signal to use it but if you have one of the new HTC phones - Desire HD or Desire Z then there's an app called HTC Locations where you can download pre-cached maps.

Yes i use google maps although there has been issues with the phone rebooting on its own accord, the guy frm orange suggested i uninstall the app then re download it and use it and see if it happens again but althoguht saying that the app is quite good, id say its on a par with the garmin we have, yes using the phone eats into your data allowance but i think its worth it

Android phones are designed (among other things) to:
    1) Be light on resources
    2) Connect to the internet

And I don't see any reason why they would go against this by having a huge map download onto the device, when it's easier to use internet to download maps as you're going along. Besides, if such an app existed, you'd use up a lot of allowance just downloading the maps - more than you would with Google maps, as you'd be downloading a load of places you'll never need

Wouldnt use up my allowance cause I would download the app and maps with wifi. then I can use it without internet access anytime just like a tom tom.
