How deep did you plant yours? The books say to water in v. well once planted and then leave alone till the come up, or is it something like, water every 7 - 10 days?? (can someone correct me on this, pls?)
I noticed mine had finally appeared when i got home from work yesterday!
I guessed what was about 6 inches when planting but i don't know how accurate i was. I think i went at least 8.
I planted three in one sack, two in another and 5 in another. 3 in total have appeared so far. They aren't what i expected them to look like.
The stalks(?) are really thick!
I have been guessing when it comes to watering. As we haven't had much rain i have been watering quick regularly - probably too regularly.Redundancy isn't fun - comping is!

I water daily while we're having this dry weather. Potatoes are very thisty.
Dry weather? It's been pishing it down here for 4 days lol! My potatoes (and all the grass now growing in my plot grrr) are loving it.I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

you are quite lucky - in my area we have only had two days of rain in about 2 months :mad:saving money by growing my own - much of which gets drunk

We've had 1/2" of rain since february
The ground is too hard to dig over to plant may late tatties, so I've had to stuff 20 in a bag with 6" soil and hope we get some proper rain so I can plant them soon or I will have to buy jacket spuds this winter :eek:0 -
Please send to Beds too, we've had one sniff of rain that barely dampened the ground in 6 weeks:eek:. I'm water my tatties - in 12 Mr M flower tubs - every other day atm but the soil is drying out long before the watering can gets near them.
Btw anyone notice Mr M isn't playing any more? He's installed a new flower stand in our local shop with little square containers they take away and refill. I'm a tub/patio gardener so looking for a new source of 'bins' if anyone has any (clean) suggestions?

Did you not get any last night? Our "individual" climate here in SOuth Beds, we got plenty (which always happens just after I've watered the allotment)The smaller the monkey the more it looks like it would kill you at the first given opportunity.

Sadly not, it always seems to just skirt us though just been speaking to a friend 3 miles down the road and they got a good watering overnight. You must be very near here, SG17, the Herts border is 4 miles away0 -
It is not dry here either - has been raining most days for the last 2.5 weeks!!!! We couldn't do the work we wanted in the garden this weekend, and I have been out sorting out my plants in the rain these days.
One thing that is loving all this - weeds!!!!! We only sorted out the beds couple of months ago, and my flower bed is dotted green with tiny weeds appearing. I am waiting for the weather to improve before I get on my knees to sort it all out.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Come to the west of scotland, we've had more than our share of rain!!!0

Nup, the opposite end of the county, where Beds, Bucks and Herts meet (LU7). Lots of rain last night and it was spitting all the way to Hemel this morning. The smaller the monkey the more it looks like it would kill you at the first given opportunity.
