Thanks for your comment,
Hee! 'more experienced staff' - not to be horrible but in town yesterday a 'more expeirence' staff member told me; 'i shouldnt be wasting my time with a child' as i was trying to exchange something in Fenwicks. Im 19 !, I should have told her where to stuff her refund!
Grrrr staff members who attempt to abuse their position of 'status'

You must understand its hard as uni / 6th form / college student to get a decent wage. Big companies (E.g boots )often dont care about staff as individuals, and just think of them as numbers. We're all prone to an off day. Next time your out shopping just think about the staff too - would you be able to treat them the way you have in store if you met them on the street? I think not. Especially students away from home i know, often are missing family and have lots of work and no money - stress!
I work in a shop and to be honest, i dont care how well it does, as long as i have a job. SA don't own the company, they dont care if you buy the £3.99 bottle of shampoo over the £8 bottle, they just want to get on with their day!
Anybody who works with the public hates the public, its just unfortunate that most people treat you badly, so you assume the next customer will - although i try to maintain a smile not least because i enjoy my job, moody, demanding customers can make your blood boil.
p.s. its very rare these days SA get commisions for their individual accounts opened, i know i dont at the store i work in!
ive worked in various shops since i was 16, all teh way through college and uni, i started in a bakery, then i was a manager at mcdonalds and ive also worked at new look and tj hughes, i now own my own business and i often do markets and carboots. i definately dont hate teh public, they pay my wages and always have done. even teh most horrid customer got treated with respect and spoken to nicely. i loved it when my customers got a good deal when i worked for other people and my business is now actually based on that, i sell discounted beauty stuff and toiletries. as a manager, i trested teh crew mwwmbers how i would expect to be treated, and in return they served the public much better and more efficently. basically, you get back what you put in, if youre sullen and rude to a customer, tehy are likely to be rude back and perhaps even complain about you, if youre nice to them, they will eb nice back and nowadays, usually the nicer i am, the more i can sell to them! also, i did get commission for openign accounts in new look, £5 per account.:T The best things in life are FREE! :T0 -
You dont get that in New Look now!
I dont think shops like Primark have helped the situation - people expect to have to push past each other, fight for clothes and generally be moody to get their shopping done ( Particularly true of christmas shopping!)
I used to work in Primark (Left for a reason) and you wouldnt believe the things some people said. I think SA just need to know their protected at work, its not nice sometimes going to work and thinking ' but i dont want to be shouted at'!0 -
lottiegirl wrote:Hi,just returned from Bromley, they are selling the oriental gift sets(one of the free offers last year ) for £2 but they go through on a 3-4-2 deal loads there.
What's in the oriental gift sets? I don't think I've ever seen these.
Like everyone else on this board, I have gone Boots crazy since joining this forum. DH thinks I'm mad, as I spend so much of my spare time shopping in Boots. And since I only work part-time, that = a lot of hours out shopping. My house is falling apart. I have no time for housework. I need to call in Aggie and whats-her-name?
This morning I made sure I spent under 5.00 per transaction, because I don't want anymore 3.00&5.00 coupons. My bedroom already resembles a Boots warehouse.
I bought 2 x No7 nail polish, 1 x eye make-up remover and redeemed 3 x 5.00 off coupons. Paid 3.00 for goods worth 18.00 (although they are on 3 4 2 I was told it doesn't apply when redeeming coupons)
Also bought Frizz Ease hair spray 3.59 redeemed 3.00 coupon so paid 59p
Waffle body buffer (last one on shelf) 1.50 got Body sculpting Cream 6.99 free and used 100 points coupon from mag.
Total spend 4.09 came away with goods worth 30.08. I'm a happy bunny today:j
There's a really sweet girl who works at my local store and very patient too. I asked her if she wouldn't mind scanning some of the Botanics creams for me (I had a couple in my basket and wanted to see which one I could get free with the body buffer) she didn't mind at all. I'm sure she thinks I'm a bit loopy (I always go to her even if the other SA are not serving anyone) for using so many coupons and going for all the free stuff. I can remember telling her about the Golden glow offer with the cheapo razors. She didn't know anything about the offer.
Is anyone else feeling bad about taking all these mags just for the 100points coupons? I have taken 3 now and they are in my recycle bin. I won't be getting anymore.0 -

Hi all,
Just went to Boots and can confirm the sculpting lotion/cream (not sure which) is free (worth £6.99!) and also got a men's moisturising cream with spf 12 (£5.49). Just gonna pop into my local boots now to see what they have!0 -
sonee2405 wrote:its the change 1 thing mailing -you get a double points voucher, a voucher for vitamins and other vouchers fot botanics etc
I received this mailing last week, but there was no double points voucher with it. Boots don't like me much I think - it was also the first mailing I've had since last summer.0 -
