Our Tesco is always stocked well, to the ceiling in fact, but it's a huge one. My favourite store ASDA though is getting worse and worse. OH likes his Warburton baps for his lunch and last week they just went AWOL, nowhere to be seen. He wasn't impressed lol..
    9/70lbs to lose :)
  • Our local Tesco Extra is well stocked most of the time. I don't spend much there anyway cos we have an Aldi and Lidl close to home, but there is plenty I cannot get there, and today they took 2 £2 of £20 spend (Sainsbury) coupons too (spent £28) (always pop to Sainsbury in the week for tea bags and my £2 coupon!!)

I walk to Tesco, I don't drive, our nearest Asda is 3.7 miles away and out nearest Sainsbury is inaccessible by foot due to the road it is on. Some of us do not have a realy choice as to where to shop, but most of the time I feel I get a reasonable deal.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

I've never liked Tesco, it's my least favourite supermarket.
  • Actually quite like Tescos (I get all OCD about collecting points :D)

My only real gripe with them is that they've combined Customer Services with the ciggy kiosk - makes it very difficult to nip in and get a paper and a packet of ciggies quickly :(

    Agreed, very annoying!
  • I have been using Tesco at Clacton since it opened a few years back.Have always been happy until a few days before Christmas when everything changed.Long queues at checkout, shelves empty, stock take an hour before closing xmas eve so no reduced goods.Boxing day items on shelves still dated 25th Dec and not even reduced. No familiar staff, shelves empty.Staff obviously not happy and many of them not in usual uniform.I phoned head office to complain and they didn't seem interested so I have gone over to Morrisons.

Like another poster said I don't have any choice but to shop in Tesco, although I'd much rather go to asda. But as I don't drive, have 2 (hungry) children, my husband works long hours and doesn't want to drive miles to do the shopping when he is home and the only other option in my small town is a tiny co-op, or a Waitrose in the next town a mile or so away, I have to rely on them. They have monopolised my town, pushed out all the littler retailers and it's not even a huge store. The choice of items is very limited, a lot of the value or discount brand ranges aren't stocked and there are items that I simply can't get. Recently I was looking for carpet cleaner and tea-light candles and they stocked neither - and because there are no other shops in the town I'll have to wait and take up one of my hubby's precious days off with a shopping trip.
Like someone else said I also find it frustrating when they are out of stock on things like nappies and formula - nappies ok, you can buy another brand (albeit a more expensive one), but formula is one the thing I have to have a particular variety as my son was premature and two out of the three major brands upset his tummy.
One thing I will say is that the staff are friendly and do try to help. On one of the occasions there wasn't any formula on the shelf one of the customer services ladies went and checked the lorry which had just arrived to see if they had any come in (which they hadn't lol), and then put one back for me when it did come in. And I find the clubcard vouchers helpful, although I know I'm ultimately paying for them in the long run. But as I don't have a choice where I shop it comes as a big bonus when they come through the door.
    So, there are these boys,
    They kinda stole my heart,
    They call me Mummy

Totally agree about Monopoly - We have two big Tescos and 5 express's within 5 miles of my house!

Although where I live there is a ridiculous amount of supermarkets anyway.....in a 5 mile radius we have; 2 Lidl, 2 Aldi, 2 Iceland, 1 Sainsbury, 1 Asda, 7 Tesco's and they are building a Morrisons too. So 16 supermarkets let alone all the little corner stores, spar's and everything else....

Plenty of other options but Tesco has always been my choice of supermarket - We popped into Tesco tonight for a few bits and actually they had loads on the shelves so might be having to change our shopping night - god it was busy in there though...
Ive never really found Tesco to be overpriced though as others have said, I guess Ive always been lucky in that they have offers on the kind of things I buy. Although I have know the little express stores are a rip off.

To be honest I can't really fault thier clubcard system, we've ended up with some great free things as a result - its a nice little bonus at least.
