Pc no longer works properly after Avast update/uninstall

At a guess, I think it could either have been a messed up install or possibly a conflict somewhere with the behavior shield. The behavior shield has been improved in the latest versions, but there are still some kinks to iron out, such as conflicts with other progams but they are working on it.-Scott-

Well whadd'ya know?! It's loaded!
I'd taken the Windows disk out and tried one last cold boot and it didn't do anything so I left it with the intention of removing the hard drive after dinner.
Nearly half an hour later and it suddenly started to load (albeit painfully slowly). Why on earth would it take that long?.......snipped
.
Probably because the disk needed checking (windows sets a flag when it closes cleanly) and thus when it tried to start it would be doing a fscheck, pure speculation mind you. If you want to see what might have happened try looking in Control/Administative tools/Event then look in Windows Logs/system ... look for the time it was happening.... HTH

Uninstall in safe mode and install avira much better. I had exactly what you had at one time I could do nothing but exit, they have supposed to have fixed it with a new update but when you see the software that did not get along with avast it makes you think.0
