Can I thank Marionandpaul for bringing this to our attention. I just opened an account over the phone, easy because I already had the esaver4 which was also highlighted recently on this forum!
I'm putting my notice in 6 months just in case...
In these days of 0.5 base and 5% inflation we need these forums and the folks who take time to contribute :beer:0 -

Absolutely. That very much needed saying. Just opened an account today and paid in a cheque and transferred separate funds from the e saver 4.
Still available but unlikely to be there by tomorrow and could close during today.I came, I saw, I melted0 -
The lady on the phone that I just spoke with (while I opened one too) said it was likely to close '....after the weekend'.
But better to err on the side of caution.
BTW Good spot OP, much appreciated:thumb:0 -

Presumably you can only add money while account is available - better hope the issue doesn't close tonight (unless you've transferred in from another NR account)0 -

You mean e saver issue 3 ? or have I missed out on an upgrade somewhere?
The e saver 4 was an easy access account paying 3% AER which came out in December but wasn't about for long. If you blinked you would have missed it.
This was the thread about it
The e saver 3 is not a bad account but only pays 2.5% although it has a lower minimum balance of £1 rather than the £10,000 under the e saver 4.I came, I saw, I melted0 -

There was an issue 4 (only lasted for 11 days last month though).

In a 2nd conversation the NR guy reckons it won't close at the weekend, but prob wont see daylight Tuesday.Old_Slaphead wrote: »Presumably you can only add money while account is available - better hope the issue doesn't close tonight (unless you've transferred in from another NR account)
I have transferred my stash from my NR esaver4 to be certain, then I'm topping that back up from a maturing bond. It'll cost me a little interest for going below 10K but I'd rather that than have a bacs bounce back AND miss the boat.0 -
