Welcome pack info just arrived by email.........will have a nose in a bit cos I off to get kids from school. It says there's a voucher for £25 off your MOT and that's really helpful being I had mine done on Friday:mad:Smokefree since 27-9-20070

Didn't get an e-mail weeks ago like most folks seem to have - but got one about half an hour ago saying I'm in and the login details work and ready to go tomorrow!:j
Thought I'd missed out on this offer so it was a lovely surprise.
Thankyou!

Ive had the email today confirming my log in etc (handy as my insurance is due next week). Ive detailed below what offers they are currently giving, and whether I think these are any good or not.
The offers they give you are:
* vouchers for a 50% MOT (worth £25) - this is only valid till March 2007 at selected branches (not that manY) - my MOT is not due till August - so I cant use this..
* FREE car safety check - not bad, but only a basic 14 point check - tyres, oil etc (easy things to check for yourself). RAC and other companies currently offer this for free - eg. http://www.bountyfamilyfinance.co.uk/Autocentre_14Points_MI.asp
* a FREE driving lesson offer (worth between £20-27) - Ive already passed my test!!
I also did a comparison of the 3 insurance companies they recommend (Peoples Choice, Ladybird Insurance and Endsleigh). The quotes I received from them varied (for my particular circumstances) from £289 to £361. Using the usually search programs as recommend by MSE :money: , Ive found my own insurance with better cover, and better excesses for only £261.
This is only my first day with FOXY, so as yet, Im yet to be impressed (nothing I can personally use myself). But, Ill update as the year goes on in case anything else comes up.0 -
Think there is a helpline too-might be useful.0

thanks Martin, I received my email today0

Thanks Martin. I received my welcome pack email today. Unfortunately, there's nothing yet that's really of any use to me. As detailed above, the discounted MOT is only valid until March '07 and, anyway, there are no participating garages in my area.
I'm due to renew my car insurance in a couple of weeks so the quote facility was interesting but the best quote was £50 more expensive than my renewal premium with worse terms.
The forum might be useful in the future ... can't see I'm particularly impressed but we'll see.0 -
Worryingly,i have just read a thread where one of the moderators recommends a certain mechanic because he is on their list, and a member of "The Guild of Master Craftsmen"(even retailers can join this,so as they say,go figure).
What is a lot more worrying is that the mechanic is NOT even a member any more. So,what do we conclude from that?
That makes me realise how important the impartiality of mse is.0
