Clamped for civil recovery.

I'll keep it brief. Over the course of about a year, I collected a handful of tickets from a private car-parking company. They were all for the usual petty infringements and I wasn't too worried. Collected the usual threatening letters as expected. Then, one day, with a VALID pay and display ticket on my car, I was clamped and many, many pounds "owed" were extorted from me for the release of my vehicle. I will accept all statements about my stupidity for continuing to use that car park. However, what I would like to know is what recourse, if any, do I have?

What reason was given for the clamping?0

Knowing which company is involved would be useful too.My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
Assuming this was for ""unpaid fines"" then its illegal, not that you are likely to get the BIB to do anything of course. If you paid by C/C then you have a great case for a chargeback.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Is your debit card got the VISA emblem on it? I am sure it is only VISA debit cards that do charge back. I could be wrong though.
