best way to sell old toys ?

I've done a MASSIVE pre-Christmas clearout and packed up all our baby toys (youngest now 2). Half in the loft "just in case"
and the other half I want to sell.
I had a look on Ebay and was pretty shocked at how little stuff goes for these days. I guess there are just too many people trying to sell stuff on there now?
So what do people think is the best way to sell old toys ? I'd hate to put it in Ebay and see it go for 99p a pop, most things I would hope for sort of £2.50 to £5. AM I being unrealistic ?
Thanks in advance for any opinions
Jill

Nearly New Sales. Local playgroups hold them and the NCT run them all over the country. You don't get a huge price for toys but it is good and there's no postage or packaging, plus a % goes to help the group and/or a charity. Here's a link to the NCT:-

Other than that for bigger items, local paper? shop noticeboard? post office window?0 -
see if there are any indoor car boots near you and try selling them this way:love: married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090

Hi Jill,
Put the items on for the minimum you are prepared to sell; it is a lot easier to have an item not sell for a price rather then have one sell for a ridiculously low price. It is coming up to Xmas and people should be starting to look for toys; if it's anything like last year anything and everything seemed to sell!
If in doubt, wait for a cheap listing day....
Good luck.

I wondered about a cheap listing day on Ebay. I know there was one recently. How often do they do them ? I would definitely list them with a higher reserve if the listing was tiny.
Re the NCT sales, I might do that if I haven't shifted them by then, I know round here they are only in sort of April and OCtober, and the latest raft has just been.

re ebay, there have been quite a few cheap listing days this year but you only ever know a few days in advance. the minimum reserve you can set is 50 pounds. better to list at the minimum price you would be prepaired to sell it at. remember postage cost may not make the item appear such a bargain to the buyer, you might have more success allowing buyers to collect their items. you'll get more help and ideas on the ebay board. married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090

Hi jill I have tried to sell some lovely toys by advert in local shops recently and have been very disappointed that they haven't sold so I'm going down the ebay route now.Total Original Debt: £30404.24

As its been said, you don't know when a cheap listing day is coming up. Although I think they are normally Thursdays but if its going to be this week, then there won't be a notice until tomorrow.
I'd go for ebay myself and make the starting price, say £2.50. Best of luck.0 -
Hi Jill,
As your thread has dropped off the first page on Old Style, I've moved it over to the Ebay, Carboot and Jumble sales board to see if you can get some more help there.

Look at similar items on ebay under the completed listings tab and you'll see what other people have got for their items.
If stuff goes too low for you, then don't waste listing fees on ebay and try some of the other excellent suggestions instead. If your items have been successfully sold before then you have an idea what to list for and what sort of price you are likely to achieve.

i think the cheap listing days are once a month, as for the exact day not sure, keep checking the ebay page and it will give you advance notice of the day, it saves on the upload fees and yes if the minimum you are willing to accept and let it go for is £2.50 then start it at that...xxx0
