Tumble Dryer install

I am looking to install a tumble dryer in place of an existing dishwasher. We already have a washing machine but due to the small space and dryer of clothes of clothes horses we want a TD installed.
I just need some advice. The TD will be placed in the corner of the kitchen against the front and side outside walls. How best would I make less work for myself and make the hole outside (for vent) as inconspicuous as possible. I will be getting a builder in but he may take the easy way out and I want something that causes little disruption to the building.
Thanks

Least disruption would be a condensor but in past experience they are CARP at drying the clothes, takes ages and was very noisy, but mine was a cheap one in comparison to some, an indesh*t one, I now use a Bosch Classix7 one, vented and its amazing, fast, quiet and no more emptying the dratted container.

Condensor would be a better bet.
Or you would need one of these...0 -
if you have an airbrick/vent nearby, you can use that readymade hole.Get some gorm.0

@spinningsheep Yeah, heard even the more expensive ones are a bit carp too
Do you know what the opening on the outside of the wall will look like if I have to drill a hole? Will the vented moisture run down a pipe into the same drain whole as the washing machine and sink water?
Thanks again0 -
The Bosch condensor we've had for the last 6 years has been fine, and as you tend to use it more in the winter you are keeping the heat in the house rather than just sending it all outside.
However its your choice - if you go the vented route you are blowing hot wet air outside so in general there is no moisture to drain away. You end up with a hole in the wall outside about 10-15cm across. You can then put a cover/cowl over it like this one http://www.screwfix.com/prods/16195/Heating-Cooling/Ducting/Manrose-Square-White-140mm-Cowl-Vent which doesn't look so bad - other colours are available if for example you have black drainpipes.Adventure before Dementia!0 -
I think you need to look at how your chosen drier vents the steam before purchasing, and check that you will have space for the vent hose.
You say it is going instead of a dishwasher, is the space just exactly the size of the dishwasher? No extra space to one side for instance?
Our dryer is elderly, so things may have changed, but ours has 3 vent positions, rear and either side. We have a space between the side of the dryer and the wall, so use the side vent. The vent hose is about 100mm diameter, so it needs a minimum extra space of maybe 150mm for the hose to be fitted.
It would be the same if we used the rear vent, and as the dryer is already almost 600mm deep, if we had to have the hose behind it, it could not be pushed right back.0 -
@WestonDave Thanks. Would like to stay away from vents like that and if it's possible/common, have the condense pipe go outside to a normal drain pipe?
The pipe is on the back of the dryer. This is the one I am looking at...http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?pws=0&hl=en&num=10&q=Hotpoint+TVM570P&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=5789341904529240582&ei=nQw2TdqSCNCChQfOn4zjCw&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=reviews&resnum=3&ved=0CEMQ9AIwAg&os=reviews0 -
its not normal to have the pipe discharge into a drain. ive never heard of one.
they just vent to the atmosphere.Get some gorm.0 -
I have a tumble in garage use to put the vent pipe out of a window but only just reach. I had a hole drilled like shown in picture above with a drill and a outside plastic vent fitted, cut the vent pipe and stuck on on the vent, looks a much better job0

Nothing wrong with a condenser dryer. I have a Bosch Classix, you just empty the container. If that's a faff then you can buy a kit so it drains into your waste pipe."...IT'S FRUITY!"0
