My £40 from Onepoll came through a couple of days after DH's, so that's now in the mortgage account making my OPs so far a rather pitiful £85 - I need to pull my finger out to hit my £10k target!

Some things that will help that are:

DH challenged the bonus that he got from work and it turns out that he WAS underpaid it, so that should be about an extra £200 next payday.

Strangely he is due another bonus next month so I'm hoping that will be about £150 or more (it's complicated to work it out as it's related to his previous role that he left last year and will be pro rated).

I spent 3 hours today sorting out baby clothes and things to put on eBay, just the small issue of taking photos and listing it now - exhausting work this selling business (partly due to the fact that lots of the clothes are quite screwed up and need ironing :o)

Fingers firmly crossed on this one...I had a job interview this week so I'm really hoping that I get it. Better job, would be a promotion and should mean that I take home around £150 a month extra if I get it... I should hear back at some point next week... eek!
  • Hey there
good luck on the ebaying- always seems like a lot of work for me!! but sounds worth it too from the money people make for things lying round the house anyway :)
fingers crossed for the job interview and holiday sounds great :)

fd internet banking is brilliant - i love seeing the payments go in and watching it go down straight away. I appreciate it all the more as there are so many people on here with mortgages elsewhere who can't see their mortgage on line and have to phone up to get the info! You seem to be making a very positive start :-)

Good luck for the job interview!

Well done on the ebaying, it is on my list of things to do, but not until I've decluttered more!

Thanks for crossing your fingers guys - I think it worked!!

I got a phone call yesterday offering me the position!

I'm pretty excited now. Have verbally accepted and now just waiting for the contract. Hopefully should start towards the end of next month :D

Now need to work out exactly how much more money I'm going to have to put into my OP pot (which will be very good, especially as I have got off to a slow start...).

Oh, I won £5 in a sweepstake at work yesterday too, so I've paid that off the mortgage.

I  the FD iPhone app - so easy to move money around, but does mean that I'm obsessively checking my accounts every few hours.

  • rlc22 - I agree re First Direct - a) their online banking is great and being able to see the mortgage decrease as you overpay is so focussing...

for what it's worth, I use:
    http://www.moneytoolkit.com/

and I love it. Really easy to use, and it works on my android, that's until FD release their android friendly app...
