Rant, sorry

Last month I lost my TSR due to two really low stars for postage and packing. The most I had overcharged was 26p to cover bubble wrap, box etc.

This month I have been really careful and again, I have another 2 star ! I have only got 1 low star in thepast 12 months, and now 3 in a few weeks

I genuinely have no idea what the problem is, I know free postage is the only way ahead now, but even by giving that I can't guarantee 5 stars. This flaming DSR star system is mad

Totally agree, I find a lot of people expect something for nothing these days. They also just look at the postage and fail to take into account the packaging.

Well, have now got to the point where I don't care anymore. Ebay, congratulations, I have been selling for 10 years, but it is now officially no fun any more.

Trust me, if there was a viable alternative I would be jumping ship right now, but as there isn't I will have to put up, but won't be listing as much as I did.

Not really cutting off my nose to spite my face as I do have an alternative selling arena. I'm sure Ebay won't even notice, but if enough people revolt, then who knows

  • I keep losing mine as well and 95% of mine goes out free post, but mine is mainly on the item as described.
They are always as described its just that the silly punters do not read the description any more and just read the headline.
I mean a CD with fireworks going off on it, how the hell can that not be as described?

don't mean to question your ability as a seller, but item as described is often the safest rating, as far as I can see looking at myself and many other sellers.
Even worse, ebay are more strict about those.
There could be something you are doing wrong, particularly if your main competitors don't have the same problem.

Saying that a major competitor of mine has a lower rating than mine, although their description is excellent, good pics etc.
So you can never be sure.

Perhaps because it needs well written instructions on how to use it?

Free P&P means 5 stars by default. The buyer has no choice. So it may be worth whacking out some cheap items with free P&P to up your average.

    I'm really glad I'm not a seller.

The star system is pretty stupid because I can imagine people might believe that they are being conscientious by trying to be helpful and differentiating between, say, things coming in two days and things coming in four. And, I'm sure that a lot of sellers suffer from reduced ratings caused by postal delays over which they have no control.

Or people reserving 5 stars for people who offer unfeasibly low p&p.

It would be much better if fleabay colour coded the ratings as satisfactory and unsatisfactory and only removed TRS is people got too high a proportion of unsatisfactory.

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
My P&P has been stuck on 4.7 for a while now even though I've been doing about 50% of the stuff free P&P to try to bring it up.

I don't even overcharge on the postage (many times I get to the Post Office only to find that I've undercharged), I think some of them don't even bother to check what you paid to post it! (Or maybe they think they are commenting on Royal Mail's prices)
    Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

    December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.10
  • The one that bugs me the most is the dispatch time, lately I have had a few of these. I post within 2 days of payment. What the old punters are doing is rating you on how long it took to get to them and not how long it took to post the bloody thing.
