Aside from the price, its highly likely the quality wouldnt be very good. It would almost certainly be worse than just connecting via a scart cable and for 50 quid id expect a whole lot more:idea:0 -
So you can:
Connect the DVD to the VCR SCART on the Sky box, and the picture will pass through (only composite quality rather than RGB though I guess)
Get a SCART splitter
But don't buy a converter, as has been mentioned, you can get a DVD player that will upscale to HD, and plug that into an HDMI socket on the TV for less - cheaper and better quality!0 -
I've no idea how good (or bad) it is, but Tesco do a Technika upscaling DVD player with HDMI for under £25.There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

Does Sky+ have an HDMI output? I thought you needed an HD box to get HDMI.There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

ebuyer do upscaling dvd players, with usb port for ripped video files too. They were £25 last time I saw. Good reviews, and I'm tempted myself, but cannot justify it to myself yet ( I have 2 scart sockets in my tv).0

Slightly ot, but has anyone used a HDMI cable with a 90 degree connector on a TV's side HDMI port and do they tend not to show from the front (Sammy B650 if any help). We've used up the three rear ones (HTPC, Sky HD and DVD recorder) and need a fourth for a Freeview HD box. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

I got a bluray player for less than £60 out of ASDA which had HDMI the picture is much better than the old DVD over scart picture, better than spending out on splitter boxes.
Oops just read the previous post, still £60 for a blu ray player, go on treat yourself. (It's even multi region for DVD)Nothing to see here, move along.0
