Not with just a cable. Can you connect the DVD player to the Sky box to the TV?0

No,as far as I'm aware,it's not possible to 'join' scart to HDMI,just connect the DVD to the VCR scart on the Sky box.0

Does your Sky box or DVD player not have component sockets to connect to the TV?0

Yeah that's not a cable.[Deleted User] wrote:
And that would be worse than connecting the DVD player to the passthrough Scart on the Sky box!0 -

Because we apply some judgement, proportionality and sense to the wider problem to offer options the OP might not have considered.
Yes it's possibe, but not a very efficient thing to do as you need an active component to convert from an analogue to a digital signal. -Like said £50 TonyW seems to have blindly stumbled upon.
However for less than £50 you could probably buy a HDMI DVD player with basic features that would have modern 'upscaling' technology and deliver much improved picture quality (approaching HD quality) when viewing DVDs on OPs new television.
If OP wants to spend £50 to easily access the low quality SCART feed from their old DVD or it has some advanced features they 'cannot' live without thats one way to go.
Personally I'd suggest it much better value (and makes MSE sense) to start moving up to HDMI feeds, either with a basic upscaling DVD player and use the existing one somewhere else (eg kids bedroom). or put the £50 towards a new more expensive DVD player/Bluray player/PS3.
alternatives could be pester Sky for a replacement Sky+ HD box and use an HDMI feed from that... or go with the 'passthrough' solution if you want to make what you have work and avoid spending any money.0 -
