sorry but i wasnt as fortunate to have my parents buy me a car and/or insure one and had to make do with a 218sd turbo rover m reg and go on my dads policy for years.
he should count himself lucky he's getting one or other or both paid for him, to be picky about a car too in my mind is taking his enormous cake and shoving it in his gob in one go!
if my dad was gunna faulk out for insurance on a car for me, i'd have a mini 1000 or metro when i passed 11 years ago or anything that was the cheapest thing to insure.
to me he's not thinking costs, he's thinking image and what his mates think because mummy and daddy will pay the rest.
i'd remind him who got to pay or help pay his insurance and car costs.
a civic isnt something to be sniffed at, nor is a skoda fabia personally i'd take the skoda over the civic (im 27 male BTW) cheaper to insure and run and theres a few sporty ones out there without buying the VRS badge.0 -
In reply to strider the 1.4 is the more desirable car over the 1.6 due to some engine issue that escapes me at present, possibly flywheel or something or other.

(something to do with the vvt bit of the 1.6vvt that doesnt affect the 2.0vvt)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

Ok... im her son, and its not what my mates think of it, its what the ladies think of it, its gonna be my 'P.u.s.s.y Magnet' so my moms hard earned cash is going to good use.
On the other hand, thanks for the info everyone including you atrixblue whose persuading my mother to get me a 'A-Z' car, instead of a 'P.u.s.s.y Magnet'.
Thanks:rotfl:0 -
Also, I forgot to mention that my first years insurance was paid for my birthday by my parents, but this year ive got a part time job while at college full time, and saved it all up by myself - which i am proud of myself for to be honest. :money:0

what happens if your temp job ends up a no job?0 -

My first car was a '1998' 1.25 Fiesta, it wasn't super cool but it got me on the road and thats all your first car does! When your out earning more money you can afford to buy a 'cooler' car... till then, be happy you got some wheels and freedom!!
Insurance is going to be your biggest enemy, anything that makes you look cool makes the insurers see you as a bigger risk and your premium rockets as a result.0 -

Half of what you say, just doesn't make sense.
But what you have told me is about your rather depressing story of getting onto the motoring ladder - all of which has nothing to do with the topic of the thread.
:T
And saying I cant get girls without a megane, ive had more girls in my car than youve got miles on your M reg Rover, and thats alot...0 -
Jakee im not sure the op can read as the thread is about advice on if Meganes are reliable or not. Also atrixblue.-MFR why are you so peed off about him getting help from his parents with the cost of the first car, jealousy maybe ????0
