But Steve, what you are advocating for others is that the "country" should not offer help basically beyond staving off starvation. Now you're finding that the "country" doesn't offer the level of support media reports have led you to believe it does, you think this support should be extended because you personally need it.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that.0 -
I suppose posting these comments on a Sub Forum that is dedicated to advice for Benefits is going to attract people who claim benefits and I will be fighting a battle against the world.
Just food for thought though I take Home £1300 a moth. If i was on the doal i would be entitled to the following (correct me if i am wront)
Free nursery fees (£800)
Rent £500
Full family credit £400 ish
DSS £50 a week? (guess)
Council tax paid (110)
So total Value of benefits per month roughly £2010. after taxes. As I have stated I am no benefit expert but these figures compared to my £1300 take home this is a no brainer...0 -
Sorry could someone please explain how the government would pay £800 per month in nursery fees to someone who is unemployed0

You are such a self-righteous bigot.
Stop patronising me and others like me who are on these forums with lots of life experience and a lot more insight than you have!0 -

You cannot even get the facts and the spelling of your self- righteous posts right. But I guess that I only read this sub forum as I'm a benefit scrounger- wrong!!!0 -
LOL, yeah I doubt they would pay nursery fee's to unemployed parents who could easily look after their own kid!
Trust me you would not be better off on benefits, my partner was made redundant Dec 2009 and he had to go onto JSA, yeah they paid our mortgage interest if we were lucky but they must of messed the claim up at least 10 times in 6 months and it caused no end of stress wondering where we were going to get the money from to pay everything. Also you will still have to look for a job unless you are sick or something which you don't appear to be.
It's all about cutting back, your mortgage interest is stupid high and yet you say you live in a modest house? My mortgage is less then yours full payment and i live in the South East, my house is a 2 bed terrance, if your paying £890 a month INTEREST only then you either have a big house or live closer to London then me!
Paying 4 grand to 'fix' your car....my car cost me £500 to begin with! I've had it repaired once for £200, get rid of the car, a new car is dead money esp if it costs u almost as much as you paid for it to fix it 18months after getting it.
£800 nursery fees...i take it your wife is really getting more money then the £600 takehome a month? else its not really worth her going back. I'm not clear on dividends so maybe people are right in saying you actually take home between 40-50k a yr.
Before i had my daughter our combined earnings were over 50k a year, now its 37k a yr on just my partner's, it still seems we have no money left at the end of the month but i have cut back as much as i can and swapped companies to make things cheaper, you just manage, i am now a mainly stay at home mum working part time once a week and i also manage to save money too for 'emergencys'.
But trust me after living on nothing from when my partner was made redundant and was out of work for a yr i can say that suddenly you wise up alot more about money and how much you were wasting and I hope to never have to go through that again. As a home owner you will not get alot of help in times of trouble.
I think you just need to cut back on the outgoings and luxeries, its easy to do really :-) and once the baby is there suddenly everything else seems less important, apart from being a happy family and being healthy, thats what has got me thro the 'hard times'.0 -
if your paying £890 a month INTEREST only!
Lol Nara, just picked up on that- my interest only mortgage averages at £200 per month for a £147k mortgage- so heck this guy must live in one modest house!0 -

No-one gets full nursery fees paid. And certainly not whilst on JSA.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
50p saver #40 £20 banked
Virtual sealed pot #178 £80.250 -
So, why did you not realise that your outgoings needed cutting back before now? Or did you expect to be subsidised by the State just because you do have large outgoings?0

JSA for a couple is £102.75.
CTC £54
CB £20
You would not get all your mortgage interest paid as the rules changed this year.0
