    Can you switch suppliers?

Do you really need this? I have no sympathy for people who whinge they have no money - yet can afford to put money in savings each month.

We had to point out the flaws to his plan earlier this month ;)

Except he didn't mention savings which would also screw up his master plan to have the state pay for everything because he would be so much better off...
  • we are with Atlantic so already have a very good deal. The savings has all gone as the car needed a new engine and the boiler broke down and needed replacing all this month, those savings were for the baby. The 450 is basically for the baby.

I am flogging a dead horse arnt I!

as i said in an ealier post, Where can i downnload the forms to opt out of the UK please? ;) i dont want to be a citizen anymore. can i buy a little island of the cost of wales or something!

Can i live where you are...The waiting list in our town for an NHS dentist is 1 year...In the city very near us it's 6 months.....We've put our name down for 4 waiting lists in the vain hope we'll get one sometime within the year...

Failing that when we visit relatives we'll be using the NHS dentist in their town...
  • Id like to point out you shouldn't believe everything you read in the Daily Mail about benefit claimants with its one sided views.

The majority of disabled claimants are quiet genuine and would give anything for there health back. Yes you get the money but you also have the pain, struggling to do day to day tasks and the countless hospital appointments to contend with.

You have a home, a wife and a baby on the way, you should be ecstatic! instead of begrudging the little bit of help that disabled ppl are getting. There are problems with this system but you cant lump all the unemployed, single mothers & disabled ppl into one pot.

But I bet many disabled ppl would be happy to swap and would chew your arm off to have your health and life but would you want the money with the pain? I don't think so

I hope you get the help you want and if need be could you move? £890 for mortgage interest seems very high and would give you the extra money you want but will depend on where your priorities are.

I wish you all the best with your new addition to your family.

Sadly its easier to get in to the country than it is to get out. I have tried.

I have nothing against disabled people claiming money, far from it. I have never even said anything about disabled claimants. I do have issues with people who have bad health through their own lifestyle though but thats another subject.

I know people who are in there 30's have never had a job and never intend to get a job. This is criminal (not my opinion it is actually criminal) and this country lets them get away with it as it isnt policed properly.

Try living where I live, in liverpool surrounding areas there are entire streets of people on the DSS and renting. Not a person in the street owns their home or works.

I persoanlly am tied in to my mortgage deal for 18 more months and then i will be able to get a better deal, I live in a modest house as it is.

I would like to say one last thing on this subject as I am a little discouraged by the amount of people on this forum who have an attitude of "the country owes me" you make your own decisions in life. I have savings and you have no sympathy... I have (had) savings to pay for things when they go wrong, like my cars engine giving up because of all the travelling I do for work. getting a 4k bill from Vauxhalls. when my boiler breaks and i get a £500 bill from the plumber. because I CHOOSE to save I dont leave myself in the crap.

I chose to be with my partner for 6 years then get married, another 3 years then have children, no "accidents" so to speak. I chose to join the army and get a career. Two years ago I completely changed my career now I have a new thriving future. one that I enjoy and look forward to. these are choices that everyone makes in their own lives.

    Rant over.

Totally agree- my mum told me the other day that there are 250,000 households in this country in which nobody in there has ever worked!

So you made those choices, fair enough, but many people would love to have £4000 cost of repairs on what is obviously a car worth far more than that or otherwise it would be written off. A lot of benefit claimants have not even had the luxury of choice in being able to learn to drive, let alone own a car, and the ones that have are , a lot of the time, only able to buy cheaper cars which are expensive to run etc. Cars worth far less than the repairs to yours cost.

And as for the attitude that 'the country owes me', that is exactly what you are saying about your own situation, and what you started this thread for.
  • Hi Lou, I paid 5500 for the car about 18 months ago, if i write it off then i am back to square one! looking for a new reliable car! The country doesnt owe me but I have paid money in to a system thinking (foolishly) that when I am in need of a helping hand I will get it... Wrong.

When i was 17 I collected glasses in a local pub every weekend this paid for my driving license, nothing is free in this life and the people that "wish" they had a license need to ask what they were doing at that age.... drinking the money most likely. I have been responsible (most) of my life and I dont want something that isnt deserved or paid in to. When i was a kid my mum and dad got a family allowance, they wernt high earners. I know the money helped a lot.
Top and bottom is we can not afford to work and have the kid in nursery. I will need to look at how I am going to make this work.... DSS being a viable option.
