Not at all, as stated I was a size 16 once and I don't think I ever looked like a bag of spuds but a size 16 needs to wear clothes that are appropriate and flattering to their size presuming of course that they want to look and feel their best and the OP did ask for an honest opinion which is what I gave:)

you dress to flatter shape and 16 can still be an hourglass too,it doesn't mean you have a large belly! Tapered trousers rarely look good on anyone though!

OP isn't suggesting a mini dress with her boobs and bum hanging out, she's suggesting an outfit that is pretty well covered-up and showing off shoulders and maybe a glimpse of cleavage. OK so she won't look like a size 10, but she could look fun and fabulous in it as does the curvy model in this pic.

Erm .... I hope I'm not being size-ist but the model on the left? Those bottoms make her ar$$e look HUGE!!!!

The original jumpsuit though, would be ok with a Wonderbra Ultimate strapless as long as your tummy is small.

I'm a 16 again (finally- after getting to a 22 last year- ick) TBH there is no way I'd wear it.

Simplybe does have it wrong about the shape flattering as harem pants emphasise a belly & butt. You need proper tailoring in that area to disguise it - or Magic Pants;)

I'm a 16 again (finally- after getting to a 22 last year- ick) CBS there is no way I'd wear it, but i do have a Thierry Mugler all in one thing in Stretch denim that zips up and pulls everything in, but it doesn't look like a jumpsuit. IYSWIM? I won't wear it until I get to a 14 though.

.....I don't disagree with your first comment, the outfit on the model certainly doesn't minimise her size. On the other hand, rather than focussing negatively on her bum and hips, if one looks at her as a whole, she looks gorgeous, fun, confident and like she'd be out to enjoy herself.

Shopping and dressing "safe" when you're a larger than standard size can be a disheartening soul-destroying process. Maybe that in itself provides an incentive to get down a dress size; on the other hand life is for living now and not when you "eventually" reach size 10.

A common thing to do when trying on clothes is to stand too close to the mirror and focus on your worst bit. Better for self-esteem to step back and look at the whole picture.

OP....am talking in more general terms now and not about you :D

She looks like an all-in wrestler in those big baggy pants.

What does everyone think of this? Check out the second pic in particular, personally I think it looks dreadful and I would be very upset at pics of me looking like this. I think Carol normally looks fab and knows how to dress to suit her shape but not this:eek:

so i had to google the photo.... i'm not sure i really mean thanks ;) does she not have a mirror?!

i do think it matches in with her mutton/lamb taste in clothing those (sorry, glowgirl.... i think more often than not, she looks pretty bad... :o that's why fashion is so subjective!)

Except for the fact that shes a model, and is paid to look 'fun' in order to sell you deeply unflattering clothes ;)
Im sorry, she looks like a sack of spuds.

And as for the other bit Ive highlighted, irrespective of your size, your weight and height, you should always dress 'safe' and make the most of what you've got. I HATE that we seem to have reached a point where people seems to think 'anything goes!' when it comes to clothes. Its why, on the rare occasions I venture into town on a Saturday night, Im overwhelmed with an avalanche of cellulite, bingo wings, muffin tops and so on. By all means make the most of yourself, but good GOD I hate this idea that a size 16 woman can wear exactly the same as a size 6. They cant.
You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....

  • I have to say, I have yet to see anyone in a jumpsuit who looked good (in my opinion) other than models in magazines. I just showed the pic to my DH and he said it was horrible (he hates them anyway!), but looking at the general consensus on here I'd say it probably wouldn't be a great idea to buy one. Having said that - could you go into the shop with a very objective friend and try one on? Also, you could get them to take a photo of you from the front, side and behind with their phone. I find that if I can't decide on an outfit, seeing photos of myself in it makes my mind up for definite. So many times I've bought things and then seen photos of myself in them and realised I look much worse than I thought when I was standing in front of the mirror!
