Been with them for a few years. To be honest, the service is not as good as it used to be in the early years and, since the O2 takeover, I have experienced lots of DNS issues and also poor performance typically at weekends.
But overall the service is good compared to other ISPs. However, if you're a long way from your local telephone exchange then there's no point as the 'up to 24Mbs' won't apply to you. If you're very close to your local exchange then Be* are hard to beat.
Bear in mind that, to the best of my knowledge, they use a transparent proxy server and also filter out sites based on IWF lists (many of which are totally innocent sites) so 'big brother is watching' but I guess that applies to virtually all ISPs these days.
Be* support is quite good and the support staff are generally helpful. They're based in Bulgaria, I believe.
Overall, i'd rate them at 8/10 as an ISP and better than most.Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0 -
Just spent over 2 1/2 hours being shunted around from one department to another. We upped our broadband from option 1 to option 3 at end of December with and they are still charging us and sending us emails saying we have gone over our 10gb monthly allowance on option 1 and have charged our account with the excess charge!!
Also, when we try to download the free internet protection you get with option 3 it is not allowing us to as it says we are still on option 1 (even though I have emails and a letter confirming we are on option 3).
Been put through to eight different depts tonight no-one will sort it out, just shunt us on to the next dept who say its someone else's department who should deal with it. When I eventually lost it with them they said it "was not BT's fault"!!!!! Must be British Gas' fault then eh? Their customer service is the worst I have ever encountered. Sorry but you did ask and this is my experience.0 -

Go across to the official Be forum and post your experience there, you should find it is sorted pretty quickly.0 -

I had problems paying them. Changed bank accounts and I realised within a few days that they had not taken a DD. I rang and told them but they refused to accept that I owed them a months payment. I asked them to note my call as I didn't want to be cut off. The following month they took a regular payment and I rang again and was told I owed nothing. Asked them to move the call again and my offer to pay, which they refused. 4 months later was cut off with no notice and the next day a threatening email. I rang they agreed I had contacted them and they credited the missing month and switched service back on within the hour. So overall a bit of a mess but they resolved it quickly.0

Yes you probably are being a bit thick because this thread is about BE broadband not BT broadband! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
