Hi Nasher, welcome to the forum.
The problem here is that it's generaly thought that to try to enforce T&C's to not include "working days" in their conditions is unreasonable and unfair.
ie. If the item was bought Christmas Eve and it fell on a Wed. then its shut Christmas day, Boxing day, Sat, Sun and Bank hol Monday then the window for return is reduced by over 70% down to 2days !!!

Hi Silk, cheers for the welcome.
Vodafone's policy at Xmas is that non contract phones bought after Dec 1st can be returned (if unused) or exchanged (if faulty) by the first or second week of January (can't remember which!). Though the general 7 day rule is a reasonable timescale for a refund it is not for a faulty exchange, this should be at least 28 days.
  • I am by no means agreeing with Vodafones return policy, 7 days seems very stingey, however, for the OP or anyone else on here to flame the manager for adhering to his company's procedures is being beyond ridiculous, we all have policies to work to in any job, most of which are made far higher up the food chain than the people on the coal face who have to impliment it, whether you agree with the policy or not. As for the manager asking you to leave part, IF you were indeed "creating a stink" on the basis you effectively bully the staff into doing as you wish via embarassment, as some people seem to advocate, then I am not surprised he did that. I am in no way being personal to the OP, so please do not take it personally, I appreciate it is frustrating, but to behave in that way would not get you anywhere, not with anyone in retail. They are simply doing their job. I know in some cases you get people that genuinely couldn't give a sh*t whether you enjoy your shopping experience or not, anyone who says "the customer is always right" has never worked in retail!

Though I agree with your support for the manager for sticking to his guns, as a manager he does have some levy in the matter and could have resolved the matter with an exchange if daisydoodle accepted this. IF daisydoodle and family were indeed creating a stink then as a retail manager he needs to grow some and learn to deal with some flak coz that's what happens in retail (unfortunately) and he should know that Vodafone customer services will always give in and therefore make him look like the bad guy (as we have now seen). Spinningsheep, you hit the nail on the head! "The customer ISN'T always right". You might as well be saying "Don't you know who I am?" if you want the same response.

thanks for your comment not taken personal either but i assure you i wasnt abusive or causing a stink i used my own phone to call vodafone customer service in there shop he really wasnt happy when i asked for other contact details
i worked in retail for a long time and know that some people can be very rude but i would say that customer service skills were none in that shop
im under the impression he barred us because he didnt want to hand the refund over after being so rude
at no time were we told in the shop we were barred and was shocked when they told me over the phone
im just happy its finally sorted out now
