I was booking a hotel room with a reputable hotel company
They asked for the card to secure the booking as usual but also the CVV number. I said i thought I shoudln't give that out and she said we have to take it to secure the booking. No one will see it.
I eventually gave it but am worried now.
Should I have done this?

Yes, all card transactions where the card is not present (ie phone & internet trasnsactions) should ask for the CVV number.0

Phew!
I just heard on TV etc, that you should not give it out.
Thanks for that. I feel relieved now.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

AFAIK the CVV number could be asked for any "card not present" transactions. Internet transactions is only one example. Telephone booking is just another particular case of such transaction.
I think you have nothing to worry about.

Yes, it's a security thing to check you physically have the card in your possession, otherwise anyone could use your number & name if they have the details from the front of the card.0
