Just like to add that it is also a double fine in effect nowadays as you cop the £60 fine and 3 points which as above come off after 4 years, BUT you need to send your licence back to have them removed and that incurs another £60 processing fee, so effectively you get fined twice.......

Remeber, its not about safety it is ALL about the money.

It's actually £20 to have the endorsements removed. Can't see what harm they do on your licence. I had 3 on my old paper licence that dated back 12 years. They came off when I decided to change to a photocard, only changed cos the paper one was falling to bits.

Agree with the last statement though.

I know. In the heart of some posters on here could you imagine how mad you would be if your kids got hit by a speeding motorist.

I however am not one of them. Ill always say you get caught you take it on the chin

I have 3 vehicles all with 3 different insurers and have 6 points on my licence and all of them have stated it doesnt make any difference for 2 SP30's
    With 3 it would

Hmmm, the only 3 points I've had was for 47 in a 40 (a sp40??). And that was temp limit during roadworks but it was 2 in the morning and no one around for miles. I didn't think it would affect my premium but with directline it did :o

SP40 is different to SP30, SP40 is for speeding in a passenger vehicle which is probably why your premium went up :

MOST insurance companies will not penalise you for one SP30, some will even let you off with 2, but you MUST inform them otherwise your insurance may be invalidated ( failure to disclose material changes ).

You are correct and I stand corrected. The fee has changed to £20 which is still and addition to the original fine in any case BUT not as severe as it was I grant you. I was quoted £60 the last time I enquired which was some two years ago, so must have changed. I am still annoyed that they would not remove them when I changed address and thus avoiding any fees, but that's the money-grabbing government for you....

    Please tell us why not?

10% tolerance is allowed on speedo readings, so a speedo reading 30mph could mean an actual speed of ether 27mph or 33mph, or anywhere between those speeds.

They have to write to you within 2 weeks don't they? So you should know sooner rather than later.. let us know if you got away with it ;)

I updated my photocard as apparently you have to once it's ten years old, so just do it all at the same time. I removed my points, changed my photo, changed address all for £20.

Ok so is a sp30 not for speeding in a passenger vehicle? (sp40 was an assumption as I was speeding in a 40

Speedos have to read exact or within + 10%, they cannot read under, hence the leeway ;)
