Primark jeans do not fit me.. at all! I don't buy them from there anymore.
Size is just a number. I'm a size 14 in one shop, size 12 in another.. as long as they look good on or off who caresCompetition Wins:

So as I also wanted a black pair, went back next day, got identical size and style, didn't try them on, got home and they don't fit. Went back to the store, took sizes 12/14/16 to the fitting room, 16 was far too small and the 12 fit nicely.
There's always been variations between shop sizes I just didn't expect to have it in the same shop & style!
I had the exact same problem with New Look. Bought 2 pairs of jeans, same size and style just different colours and one pair was too big, the other too small! Took 3 trips to the shop to finally get ones that fit and they have different sizes in the label. I mentioned it when asked why I was returning them and apparently it happens a lot, bit worrying really! I've now just taken to ignoring what it says on the label and judge on actual size/join the long queue to try on (unless I fancy another trip to town, never a bad thing)
Anyway the best fitting jeans I've ever owned were £6 ones from Primark.I completely wore them out and sadly have not been able to replace them.

My low body proportions seem all out when I try on jeans, although shops are far more accommodating now. Dorothy Perkins is my first stop for jeans, they have always lasted me a good few years and the sizes are perfect more me. They also look good too. Jeans from shops like New Look, Asda, Primark etc. never seem to fit me properly and are usually too short, small or so baggy in the wrong places it looks scruffy.
I remember when you were either a 10 or a 12, unfortunately I seemed to be somewhere in the middle with jeans, and to top it off I have quite long legs. Jean fitting was a nightmare for me. Luckily now there are lots of different styles coupled with a mixture of length and size.
I hate the variations in sizes in shops. In most I'm a 10, but in some I'm as much as a 14. It's very irritating, especially with shops like Jane Norman and Miss Selfridge that seem to deliberately design tight fitting clothes that favour people with a nice flat stomach.0 -
Primark is known for downsizing on their items. Many of my friends daughters could easily fit in ops made for what Primark called 3 years, and they were no older than 12 - 13 months!0

I usually find Jane Norman are the smallest of sizes! I need a 16 in their and a 12 anywhere else
Have to say though that ive noticed New Look and h&m sizing has started to get smalled (no ive not put on weight ive actually lost over a stone, before you say thats the reason!)0 -

I wish shops would be more consistent. I like DPs jeans too but I do find them sized up a bit compared to other places I shop. I generally fit in an 8 in there but I'm usually a 10 (or 12 in primark). Tops seem to fit the same as other places though.
Haven't really noticed a relationship between price and size overall
I remember a comparison chart being linked to on mse once but I can't find it. You put measurements in and it told you what size to try in several different shops.0 -
midget_gems wrote: »as a typical bloke posting on this thread i would just like to say that i honestly do not give a flying F**K about a number written on the inside of a pair of pants. As "typical" as it sounds, if you were in a position to be staring at the contents of some pants where the label would be located, you wouldn't be looking at the label. And if a situation were to arise where the pants and the person are seperated, you certainly wouldnt be staring at the pants.
Pants aren't too much of a problem since they just come in small, medium, and large.
But for things like trousers and shirts, inaccurate sizing is a pain because it means that you need to actually try things on before purchase.
Which is a complete waste of time for everyday clothes. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
I can be a 6 (in asda) up to a 14 (H&M), it's just ridiculous! However I've generally worked out what size I am in most stores so usually only take 2 different sizes to the changing rooms.
Makes life difficult for my boyfriend buying me clothes though - 'What size are you now?'
'Well where are you buying me something from?' :rotfl:Excuse any mis-spelt replies, there's probably a cat sat on the keyboard0
