car insurance for new boy drivers

Lots of young people drive like loons in their bangers hence the huge insurance costs, it's unfair to the others but that's life."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0

Try asking for a quote with you(or your wife) as a named driver, has reduced a premium for my wife in the past, when she was a new driver. Don't ask me why, but I didn't really care, it was all legal and above board.
The classic car route is a good one, my first car was an Austin A40 Mk2 Farina, with the fully opening boot, top was a window and the bottom bit folde down like a Range Rover, plenty of sideways fun. And apart from the non syncro first gear a nice car to drive, my sisiter owned it before me and it needed a little welding when it was bought, but was then trouble free for three years.
I fancy getting another and putting a Rover V8 with an auto box in it...................0 -
Reason why girls are half as much is because they are seen as less of a risk than boys,
Much like old people they have lots of low speed, low cost claims....
Or tend to drive off after minor parking collisions = no claims
The boys tend to go off into fields, tree's or god forbid other cars.... Usually only once in their driving "career", but the costs are astronomical.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I think "Usually" only once in their driving career is a bit of a generalisation, as a significant amount of young males have many accidents.
Another factor on top of the aggressive accidents males often have is on average they drive more miles than females so have a greater exposure to accidents by virtue of the higher mileage0 -

How are you doing with that woman you pulled into when she was overtaking you by the way?0 -
I would recommend pass plus. The cost is 6 extra driving lessons after you pass your test.
It saved me around £400:smileyheaSAHM to my 4 beautiful children and wife:smileyhea0 -
Tough one really. From my experience Insurance Companys purely base their figures on statistics, and do not really take into account anything much which would reduce a premium. They are only interesting in those things which will allow them to charge more.
So, really you need to find a vehicle which statistically is a "low risk". Now, as silly as it may sound, that may not be a 1.2litre car, it could be something like a BMW 525...I know a lad near me who drives a 4.2 litre jag because its cheap for him to insure!
I found this out a few years back when I wanted to buy a honda fireblade motorbike. I was offered one which was a good few years old for £2000 and I thought it would be ideal for commuting to work on. Most insurance companys i spoke to would not touch me on it. Those who did wanted thousands to insure it.
So, in the end I bought a nearly new Yamaha R1, which was a bigger engineed, faster, much quicker sportsbike worth over twice as much money as the fireblade. Insurance companys all said "no problem" and i insured it for about £100. Go figure.
Also, as other people have said, dont assume 3rd party only will be cheaper - even though it means the insurance company will have less to pay out. Ive just got 2 quotes for a classic hot hatch car. Third party for me with zero NCB (as it will be a 2nd car for me) was £400. Whereas, fully comprehensive came in at a very cheap £85! (eighty five pounds). Never fails to amaze me how insurance companies work these things out.0
