Are there any free intelligent route planning programs available?

Hi,

I wonder if anyone knows of anywhere I can find an intelligent route planning piece of software or a website that I can use? What I need to do is tell it the places I need to go and for it to tell me the best order to visit those places?

I assume there must be some sort of software like this available and would be grateful for a point in the right direction.

It's ok now thanks, Google Maps appears to do roughly what I need by showing all points on a map and I suppose I can plan my route around their location points.

Very helpful for me ( I am directionaly challenged). I use the street view to visual refernces.

Tomtom Route planner:

It has "live" traffic information.

Nokia Ovi Map:

I think this one also contains traffic information.


There are others like RAC, AA, MapQuest, but never get to use those.

I have free Nokia Ovi maps on my N8, and its excellent.

Do you have the correct link for the tom tom route planner? The one you supplied is the same as the nokia ovi maps but the tom tom one sounds quite useful.

Although what you're originally asking for seems simple, it's actually a very complicated problem in mathematics/computer science

Depending on what exactly you're requirements are, you probably are best off looking at a map and judging visually which seems to be the shortest route.
