Sounds like the police have really cocked up there, which is their own problem. You've done everything that's been asked of you and everything that's so far required by law.
If DVLA or a court do write to you to request your licence, you must comply. If the don't, it's their problem, but as Gene_Hunt says, it's in your interest to establish from the DVLA the exact status of your licence in case they revoke it without telling you. By the end of February, you should have a firm answer when your renewal licence arrives.0 -
It shouldn't have been returned. It should have been retained by the police, taken to a local court for the points to be added and returned to you.
I would phone the DVLA on Monday and ask how many points you have.
Spot on
Mine was retained by the police to be sent off
(years ago may i add )If Adam and Eve were created first
.Does that mean we are all inbred0 -
I contacted the DVA today and they advised that I have a full clean driving licence.0
-
May be a good result then0

i personly would make them put the points on just to be on the safe side of things
you dont wanna get a court summons for not returning your license even if the police forgot. i always have to send mine off with the NIP thing0 -
The DVLA also have a habit of making as mistake, usually on the phone and then four or five years down the line you get caught by the Police for having a revoked licence due to the DVLA putting on the database that you never surrendered your licence to be endorsed.
Has happened before and will happen again.0 -
exactly what i was trying to imply
will be much safer to take the points or at least ask for them and get a letter stating why you cant have them0 -
Exactly right hubert, get everything in writing, this will stop the DVLA denying everything later.
With all the people being taken to court due to the DVLA losing logbooks and SORN forms makes me suspicious that it may be a deliberate ploy to increase revenues, I now take any logbooks to a local office and keep the reciept in a safe place, I tried to fight a case when they lost a logbook recently and they just denyed everything, and I got fined over £200 quid by the court, I could have appealed but I don't qualify for legal aid as I pay my taxes and own my own (mortgaged)home.
i sometimes think it would be easier being on benefits, and in a free, brand new Housing association flat, as all they seem to do is play Xbox and have kids, seems a nice way to live, I haven't got the energy to try to make any more babies after a working week.0 -
that reminds me i have to get a photo card photo done by the 4th of feb
and i have to pay £20 for the privilidge0 -
And once you have the photocard license you have to renew it every 10 years and also pay for that privilage too!
Sounds like you have a result on the points, personally id keep quiet about it. As others have said, normally the police take your license off you when you produce it at the police station, then its sent back to you with some points hand written on it.0
