    imr4n might have forgotten to bookmark the thread. Anyway it always helps to look on the bright side.

    Last week I looked into options to upgrade phone and broadband, particularly the latter which is an antiquated BT spec and service. With help from OPs on this thread, a few other OPs, and reading through some good threads here, it was easy to breeze through the broadband technicalities in no time: links given to Bt wholesale (options for switching from ADSL to ADSL max or ADSL2+ based on present exchange settings and likely speeds), current speednet test and checking attenuation and noise settings on router, extrapolating likely speeds on a more up-to-date connection by inputting attenuation and SNR into DSLzone.

    Info is helping me make confident decisions on which provider to use i.e. BT (depending on obtaining an ADSL2+ connection, but not O2 based on poor of spec of access package and contention), very possibly e.g. IDnet/ADSL24 as a good alternative in any case, and if all else fails switch to cable.

    Class act from OPs helping me through these technicalities in no time. Really appreciated and thanks. :T

    Another good source for finding user feedback on ISP's is here;

    Just tick the ISP's to compare.

    about a year ago, as I didnt want to be tied into a contract as I knew BT infinity was coming soon. You are tied into the first 3 months and thereafter you just give 1 months notice. There was no up front fee but you do need a landline.
    I'm still with them as Bt infinity has not yet come to my green box GRRRRR and can recommend them

    Sorry for not replying any sooner. I've managed to sort it as my new flat has WiFi throughout the building.
