Shops do not require you to pay immediately and go to the check out as soon as you pick something off the shelve. It is up to the buyer when they do it. Some are also happy to wait 3 days for payment and keep the goods for you.

The ones happy to wait 3 days are usually those not far from closing down due to lack of trade.

Or alternatively those who are aware that they are obliged to wait up to seven days, so save themselves the unnecessary stress?

If you type reserve and collect into Google you will see how many names do it. They are after sales from the iphone market and this will be getting pushed more in future.

The shop however was not my example.

They are better examples that run on settlement a few days after a trade. In fact most of the world trade works this way.

All my BIN listings are now immediate payment. I do it as I don't want to be chasing punters like the OP. If I get a local wanting to collect, I refund the postage. A couple of these told me not to bother, as they were happy with the price.

That'll be because you want immediate payment then, not the option of a few days like the op's seller.
At least you know what you want.

It's a good idea the other way round though. I can win an item, or BIN, pay, request the sellers details, then give them a call the following lunchtime to check it's been posted already.
I'll post up the responses, maybe other buyers can do the same with everything they buy?
(apart from Sunday if it's a parcel, but still fair for a letter size item)

No, it's because I had buyers who left it days before paying. As I also offer collection, I was reluctant to insist on immediate payment. Though I doubt I would ever ring a buyer in this fashion.
If you bought from a business seller, details are on ebay for everyone to see.

Good point mikey, I mean, you wouldn't dare set up a grocery shop, have payers come in to pay, and tell them they can have their food in 6 or 7 days, would you? ;)
