gumtree sell the tank and the oil..... if its bunded plastic and with oil in then it will sell straight away.
If you have some pikeis down the road they may take it for free... heating oil is 50 pence ish per litre0 -
What do you do with it once you have 205L in a barrel and can't move the barrel let alone fill another tank with it? OP already said everyone in 5 mile radius is on mains gas.
i can move a full diesel drum as far as you want on a flat surface...think thats about 200L. not a problem. would have to pump it out ...old washing machine pump does the job lol
just for INFO lol0 -
If it is a cube just measure the dimensions, get a dip stick, put it in as straight as you can, measure how far up it the level of oil comes and you should be able to work out a rough figure.drewsmushroom wrote: »where i live is a built up area, not the rural village type that you would expect to have oil/lpg heating. Everyone has mains gas. I've managed to spark some interest but there is NO means of knowing how much is in the tank. It just a big metal cube with one pipe in and one out. Its a nightmare! Just wish that the caravan community would break in one night and steal it. Thanks for the replies.
As for moving it in 205L drums, 25L containers etc my point is that it hardly seems worth the effort. You would probably be better off working some over time and buying the kerosene from a fuel company.0 -

You are joking arent you?
If the oil is going for a song you wouldnt put a bit of effort into getting it? You know oil hit a quid a litre this winter?
Overtime - some need full weeks hours let alone overtime. The OP has posted this in the hope of helping both them and someone else
And from the replies its obvious there is a demand - just most of us live too far away0 -
could you tell us what colour the oil is? might sound odd but there are some old installations that use a less common type which is reddish. I wouldn't want to go all that way to find that it's the wrong stuff that I can't use.0

Red Diesel is worth more than Kerosene. 10ppl (its the tax)
You'll have trouble selling it, some one will take it off your hands for free trust me. 1.5m2 =1500litres =approx £1000 at the moment
(if you've paid £1 a litre you've been had i'm afraid - 65p max)
yes i work in that industry - and not for DCC/GB oils0 -
