Maybe you should post this in the recycle forum....scrap price for steel tank? oil at 60p/Litre?There are three types of people in this world...those that can count ...and those that can't!

I think you will have a hard time selling the oil. No company will touch it as they have no idea if it is contaminated or not and businesses are the only ones with the means to get it out... unless you want to spend some money on a hand pump or £200 on an electric one and £10 on barrels.0

Do you really not know how to move liquids from one container to another with a hose pipe?I think you will have a hard time selling the oil. Oh and also the tank should have a tap where the oil comes out of the tank to the pipeline, so you can just drain it straight out anyway.
We have had to amounts of oil from people we know who have changed from oil to gas and let us empty their tank, both times they gave us the oil as it was going to cost them for any other companies to do it, though we did give them "drink" money, we gladly used our hose pipe and some barrels my dad had (which we cleaned well). For the OP Id ask around your neighbours, but dont expect much money for it.0 -

What do you do with it once you have 205L in a barrel and can't move the barrel let alone fill another tank with it? OP already said everyone in 5 mile radius is on mains gas.0 -
I didnt say use 200l drums did I? We used 25l drums = 25kg which my hubby managed ok with. What do you do with it once you have 205L in a barrel and can't move the barrel let alone fill another tank with it? OP already said everyone in 5 mile radius is on mains gas.
If every sinlge neighbour is on gas and OP was the only one left with oil then maybe he could try gumtree or freecycle to advertise it.0 -
where i live is a built up area, not the rural village type that you would expect to have oil/lpg heating. Everyone has mains gas. I've managed to spark some interest but there is NO means of knowing how much is in the tank. It just a big metal cube with one pipe in and one out. Its a nightmare! Just wish that the caravan community would break in one night and steal it. Thanks for the replies.0

I think I would have used it all before converting to gas.
As for getting rid of it I haven't a clue but you will need to be aware of the environmental issues should anything go wrong. Contact an oil supplier and ask their advice on removal also the tank suppliers.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

Put it on Freecycle, if you lived anywhere near me I'd be VERY grateful of it at the moment and more than happy to transport it back to my nearly empty tank!! I'm sure someone will be interested, you won't lose anything by trying.
