If its anything like the led floor standing light I have you might need a led driver. You can get led capsules for it but there not that cheap from, around £6 each for cheap ones and there not as high as ones you rate
This is a led driver shown for example only

I wouldn't bother if I was you I aint for mine and has mostly led in house nowI have a floor standing lamp that has 5 halogen G4 capsules, 3 are 10w and 2 are 20w, this lamp is used a lot, my husband sits close to it to read....
Will this be using a lot of energy, is there an led bulb I could switch to ?0 -

Will the halogen lights be costing a lot? We do have them on most of the day0 -
Your using 70w an hour assuming its on full power 1000w is 1kWh around 12-16p so 14 hours would be that cost roughly0

I am the Sales Manager for a Cheshire based LED lamp manufacturer and can tell you there are a lot of lamps in the market today that won't be in coming years.
There are 3 major components to an LED lamp that mean it'll work consistantly well and for its full life:
The chip, the heat sink and the driver.
If any of these is made to a poor standard the entire lamp is likely to be compromised. Unfortunately there are not yet any helpful UK standards to meet before distributing the lamps to market and, as a result, the UK is seeing a lot of poor quality products.
I just wanted to write that I'm happy to answer any questions about the market in general and offer tech advice upon request.
So I have noticed, the ones I have brought off feabay have failed with-in months. The 3 Phillips 1w ones I brought from Tesco seem to be going fine (so far).Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0 -
leona - you haven't told us the brightness or wattage of what you replaced, but there's a lot of confusing terminology out there. The PAR38 light sounds not too bad but the 'flood light' won't be doing much flooding at 850 lumens. That's equivalent light output to a normal 60W bulb, not a halogent floodlight.0
