I noticed Aldi had some leds in some went up to small bulbs 330 lumens they also had some larger bulbs for mains light unfortunately they were all screw type bulbs for mains light

For some reason screw type fitments are far more common with LED bulbs than bayonet fitments. The larger bayonet size being the least common (B22)

I think LED lights are fine for outdoors but I'd never used them indoors. There are known health dangers and plenty of literature about this online to read. Until someone develops a "safe" energy saver, I personally would go for halogen bulbs every time. They get hot but at least they don't emit radiation like all CFL bulbs do or suppress melatonin like LED lights.

Where? Good literature or dodgy internet literature?

Just put in 12 4W 120 degree LED 240V GU10 (warm white) from ledhut for a customer, replacing some 12V MR16s. They are well pleased, I must say it does look good. Warmer and wider angle than the MR16s.

Yes I think your right. I am currently looking at getting e14 and b22 candle bulbs for two lights and might get the megaman bulbs which can dim just a bit pricey along with led dimmer

Looks like no one makes LEDs for cooker hoods yet. My filament bulbs in the cooker hood have the shortest life ever, probably due to fan vibration.

You seen this blog post. I think it's the above spot that is specifically referred to, which is why i didn't try anything from LED hut. Comments below the blog don't make for good reading either.

There are a number of online companies offering 5 tear warranties, which all seem to be marketing puff, unless anyone can demonstrate otherwise.

Yes, I've seen it - he is rather evangelicall isn't he - not like he has an axe to grind or anything. I've dealt with LEDHut since their formation, have a trade account, and rarely use anyone else for LED stuff now. I find the warm white 120 degree 4W smd units from Lumilife every bit as good as an MR16 or GU10 50W, but it is a "different" light. The cool white can be a bit "clinical", but look good in an all-white room (like a bathroom), albeit a bit stark.

Each to his own, but he does come across as a bit of a tool (IMO) Also, "nigelsecostore" sell the same Lumilife LED bulbs that he's !!!!!ing about - go figure...

The article may be a rant and the guy obviously has an axe to grind, but his points are backed up by evidence or reasonable argument.

Really? 4w LED has the same brightness as a 50w Halogen? Is it this one?

I'm very surprised 320 lumens is enough to be as bright as a 50w Halogen. The 6w LED's i have with 400 lumens are good enough, but only just and only because the light is not as warm.

This is an interesting read on the lifespan of LED's. It seems to counter what most companies are claiming.

Thats the problem with these things, you simply don't know what to believe which makes it a very frustrating and a near impossible task of understanding it all.

Is this industry regulated by anymore?
