Well, applied for a junior role yesterday and a part time admin job today, both local to me, both on min wage but I figure if I don't have a large outlay for travel then that's great. So will wait to hear from them. Also just got a call from an agency, poss 2 days temp work next week, again better than nothing, I said YES YES YES I am available so again waiting to hear back from them if it's a goer or not. Spoke to my neighbour earlier about volunteering as a reading 'listener' in the junior school she works at and she said she'd get me a form to fill in as they are always looking for people, and if the temp work doesn't come off I have an appointment at another volunteer organisation on Tuesday. At least I feel I have achieved something more positive this week after weeks of sulking and feeling so down at home.
Well done and congratulations to those who have finally found work, I so hope something will come up for me soon!! Hope you all have a lovely weekend!0 -

Well I'm back from my interview and feel like it was just a waste of time. It was ridiculously hard to build a rapport with them as they really didn't seem interested in anything that I had to say! Oh and the hours had been changed which would have made it too awkward for me to do anyway! Oh well it's all experience and I have another job interview for Monday so hopefully that one will go better than this one!
Congratulations on the job loops!0 -
I have a job!! :j
It's fixed term until November, and not ideal in terms of pay or location really, but I am happy
Thanks to everyone on here for help & advice.:T
Best of luck to all of you - I'm really impressed with the amount of work all of you put into finding a job and hopefully as Persa said there will be lots more positive news on the way on here
Congrats :T when do you start?
I've had a busy day, cat was taken to vet, then straight to a meeting at the Princes Trust then signed on (after having to wander in town for hours waiting). So, I'm going to have a day off from the job huntJust because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
Well, I'm a bit upset - nothing job related but we've just found that all but one of our fish has gone from the pond. The heron has had them
Only half of Jedward is left and he's sat at the bottom of the pond all lonely.

Positive good news! Well done Loops!
Well I had a pretty horrible chaotic day (my fault completely though- I should have just said no), an exam from 9.30 to 12.30 and then interview at 2pm... I think I aced the tests in the interview, I was sat around 15 mins doing nothing after checking my answers. However I was bumbling mess at the interview... I had no time to prepare, and was so nervous i could feel my lips trembling...
Just got the dreaded phone call... apparently I interviewed well (I'll take that with a pinch of salt), didn't seem nervous and was relaxed (really?) but there was someone with more experience... apparently i did fine in the grammer and prioritisation test though my excel test wasn't looked at... Boo!
At least I don't feel so bad... got my Monday interview to prepare for.0 -

Decided to hijack, or join I should say this thread. Although it's not me it's my OH looking for work. Long and short of it is after 2 years of short rubbish temp contracts, his recent one ends on Sunday and he doesn't have anything to go on to. I would like to say he's been looking for permanent work in that time. In fact every spare second is spent job searching but nada! Apply for at least 5 or 6 a day. He's a forklift driver and the money is getting worse and worse and the hours more and more ridiculous for like 3 months work at best. Terrified what we are going to do for money when this job ends and he doesn't find anything soon.
I work full time but only make peanuts and we have the usual bills coming out and 3 children to pay for. My wage covered bills and his our living money. Have a roof over our head but no petrol or food haha. Nice. Reed.co.uk just depresses me with it's number of applicants bit and seeing how many people are applying for each job. What a !!!!py job market it is at the moment!
Hope everyone else is having much more luck and not feeling quite so dejected :-);) Better to say nothing and look a fool than to speak and remove all doubt
:D
