  • I've heard nothing from my interview on Tuesday and I can feel the job slowly slipping away. I'm expecting the 'thanks but no thanks' letter so its back to square one as there's really been nothing around for the past couple of weeks. For some reason I'm more fed up than usual today.
  • Ok spent the last 2 and a half hours changing my CV. It definately seems to be more professional and will stand out a bit more. I also managed a personal statement as well which I think makes me come across well. I feel a bit more positive now as I think I have done quite a good job. If only there were some vacancies to apply for so I could use it. :rotfl:

Just remember its their loss. I felt quite down as I had a thanks but no thanks e mail telling me I didnt have the relevant experience despite the fact I have done the same type of work for the past 12 years. But now im just thinking more fool them. I think it was actually a generic e mail they send out when they cant be bothered actually reading your cv. (at least thats what I have convinced myself :rotfl:)

I am so tempted to e mail back (its an employment agency) and ask how exactly they have come to the conclusion that I don't have the relevant skills given that all my work experience is in exactly that type of work.

So now i'm taking the attitude that they can reject me all they want, if they can't see that I would be an asset to their company then they are blind and I will find a better job where I will be recognised for my fabulousness. (However, this postivie attitude may begin to wane if I still havent had an interview this time next week.:p) Im a firm believer in whats for you won't go by you, and im just taking these rejections as paving the way towards my dream job, as they obviously weren't the job for me anyway.

I have my new improved CV but no jobs to apply for! I'm a lot more positive now about my CV (really positive, not just the fake positive that I usually put on for other people!).

Twinkle it is really frustrating when you cant get an interview for a job that you could do with your hands behind your back, but I keep telling myself that a job will come up that is meant for me and when it does I'll appreciate it more because of all the knocks I have had.

So apparently my temp job start date has been postponed for 2 weeks and even that isn't definite :( It's a good job I've still been madly applying for everything I can... I refuse to count my chickens before they hatch!

Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.

Congrats to everyone who got job offers !! :T
I got another rejection yesterday, again never made interview. It was for a date entry/copy typist position. 'Having assessed your skills and experience, you have been unsuccessful'. I have worked in offices in admin and clerical roles since I was 18, how can I not have the relevant skills or experience for that !! And I think I have taken it too personally, and its just made me feel really depressed and useless. Just dont get what they are looking for at all. :(

yes ive had that alot lately, even despite having x number of years of experience in a particular job sector i couldnt get a job at 2 places i applied for

I was just wondering if you all allow employers to search for your CV? I have noticed this option on several websites and don't know if this is worth doing. Also if you do, do you remove all your personal details first?
  • I am registered on a few job websites and I have allowed recruiters/employers to search for me. I have made my details public, although before I was made redundant, I had them private. No one has ever approached me though.

I was actually gonna post a question today asking if anyone had actually been approached by an employer through doing this cos to me it seems to have been a waste of time so far.

I have my CV set to public and I have only had one phone call for a totally irrelevent job. I get a ridiculous amount of scam job offers though which I presume must be from this site as the email address I use is one I only created for my job search and nobody else has it.

Even though it hasn't done much good so far you just never know. I think it is the Jobsite where you can see how many times your CV has been viewed and mine is in the 100's. It just takes that one person seeing something they like in your profile.

Hi everyone, so my good luck regarding jobs this week seems to be paying off, got a phone call yesterday about an expenses only job i applied for to fill in some of my time.
The job is only for 1 or 2 days, 4 at most but they said because of my experience they want me to run the job and manage a couple of others and so they want to pay me an hourly rate and expenses :j

It's not confirmed completely they're meant to ring me back tomorrow with pay and time details. The job should be end of this week or the start of the next. I'm going to be checking my phone non-stop tomorrow.

I'm really looking forward to this even though its just a few days work, as I was looking at having a big gap on my cv if i didn't get anymore work until the job i've got for June. Hopefully I can pick up some more but this is a really good start :D

Hope everyone else's job hunts pick up and its good to see all the offers :)
