If you scroll over the letters on the web it does look like there's a line of spaces, but there isn't. It's just the way the web container is working. Copy and paste and you'll see there are no spaces there.

@ r1c0l1 Website seems OK to me.

Just so you all know I'm away this weekend at a signing session (Waterstone's, Leeds) and so my ability to help out will be compromised. If there are any issues/worries/questions/queries I'll do my best to help out Sunday evening-ish.

Thanks to all of you for showing an interest in this and VERY well done to those of you who, I am reliably informed, have already submitted correct entries. That said, correct entries are still quite low, so chances of being pulled out of the hat are, conversely, quite high.

Finally, Amazon/Apple low price promotions on digital versions of Codex are over now (I knew it was coming but wasn't sure when) but they're still reasonably priced. ;-)

Oops! I kept thinking about getting it and forgot!

Still - I may have to try and get into Leeds tomorrow.... How much is the book at the signing tomorrow please? Is it a MSE price? :)

The price change will, I gather, take a while to filter through, but it's happening.... (Da, da, daaaaa!)

The book (signed, of course) is £9.99 retail at Waterstone's but it's very lovely with foil blocking and embossing and all that malarky. Also, if you email your receipt, you do get the ePub/Mobi for free!! Bargain.

Even if you're not buying, it would be great to put faces to User Names.

    All the best everyone,

Hi gav; the clue is in "....missing from REST of grid"

This will give you the first answer which is 5 letters!

How do you know the first answer is 5 letters, I am completely flumuxed by this and have been trying to work it out for ages, I even thought that to find the first answer I would need to use ELS on the words "First Part Of The Answer Derived From Letters Missing From Rest Of Grid" But after spending days trying to find out which letters to use it did not work, then I thought Rest of grid might be an anagram but it clearly is not. Oh another thing, I don't know if I am on the right lines but I put this grid of letters into notpad and printed it off, I'm not sure but there seems to be some sort of an image made up from the letters of someone wearing a hat, I could not quite work it out, so have spent days putting this into Excel, but am not sure which letters need to be greyed out in order to make the image clearer, I have tried making the Z's black the A's White and the rest of the letters grey but that did not work, any help would be appreciated.

I know Adrian does not want the answer published on here but could we not PM each other what we think the answers could be???

@r1c0l1 I don't think you've read Codex, have you. That's kind of the point of the competition - once you've read Codex, the "How To" is a much, much easier than trying to guess how. Early days I wondered if I'd made this too complex but at present Last Passage are receiving approx. 2 correct entries per day, so I know that some people out there are managing to work through it.

It is a competition that requires effort, but it's also free to enter and (hopefully) fun as well. Keep trying. Better still, read Codex and try again - you'll kick yourself when you realise what to do.

    Good luck!
