Part Exchange Dealer Figures!!!

  • I agree - its the cost to change that you need to look at. If the dealer is offering a low part ex you should expect the price of the new car to be reduced accordingly so the cost to change is about right.

If you think the deal is no good I suggest you try elsewhere.

Once again we see the difficulty of changing cars to save money.

Not saying the OP won't do it in the long run if they are going from, say, a Range Rover to a Fiesta but it is very difficult to recover the margin loss on the trade in and the steeper depreciation on the new vehicle from fuel and insurance savings.

    +1

Unless you're at a natural change point, then any savings will be wiped out by depreciation

So we go into a Ford dealership today looking at part-ex on a new Fiesta, Parkers Price Guide says our cars part-ex is £11,185 yet the dealer has offered us £9,500 and thats after he inspected it and said its in superb condition???
Whats all that about, ours is a 4 wheel drive too and they are supposed to be in demand???

Also what type of 4x4 is it?

Unless its a Ford one (and a very recent one) then the dealer is going to have to trade it on as they wont want it on their forecourt.
  • It was a Suzuki Vitara 2009, we traded it for a pre Reg Nissan Note

Along with Landy Andy's theme, I wonder how long it will take in the more economical Note to recover the cost of changing vehicle...
