Very, very bad advice. This is perverting the course of justice and the courts take an extremely dim view of it. Jail terms are not uncommon for people who pretend someone else was driving, and the police can often find out by looking at the photograph.
I didn't say it was good advice... :D

My wife got a speeding ticket a few months ago and she was never asked to provide insurance details throughout the whole process.

As the speed is 58 in a 50 does the force who issued the ticket do a speed awareness course? If so and you are eligible then it means no points on the licence.

I don't think they will ask, I've had two speeding penalties over the years and don't remember them asking to see proof of insurance. Whether they do a computer check though I'm not sure.

I did the same thing years ago, presumed I was covered as I was fully comp, but I was only 22yrs old, luckily I didn't get stopped and after borrowing the boyfriends car for 2 weeks I got mine back from the garage and suddenly realised.. ! Never again!

No doubt both were on the insurance when the database was checked.

So if she wasnt insured to drive it, why on earth was she driving it.

If she had any doubt, she should never have got behind the wheel.

This may well result in 6 points each.

    Plus 3 for the speeding!
  • were these the M25 average speed cameras

i see people flying through these and never get why they dont get points or maybe they do

i also think its unfare that motor bikes can go fast through them as they dont have plates on the front

They'll only give points for the no insurace. I do hope they have held full licences for more than two years.
  • By and large, the camera partnerships only raise the insurance issue if it appears that one car has several drivers. In other words, if people have been passing points onto their wife / husband because their getting close to a ban, then it might cause questions to be asked. If you've not been snapped before, the chances are that they'll cash the cheque, endorse your licence and leave it at that.
