Anyone else taking Lionbridge Exam next week?

I passed the first stage too and need to email them back...! So when I've done that, they email me a link to the exam, is that right? Is it just one test that I have to do and how long does it take?
10-12 hours a week is realistic for me, but I take it I'm classed as self-employed for this? Will that cause an issue because I'm already taxed on a full-time job?0 -

You will need to sort out your own tax and national insurance. It's a second job, so whatever is the case with "normal" jobs, will apply here too.
You have up to 5 days to complete the final exam. There are two parts, the theoretical, and the exam itself. It's tough and you will need to take all the time you are allocated to study and apply yourself to it. Good luck:beer:The only thing we know for sure, is that we know nothing0 -
I'd like to ask what languages those that have passed are bilingually fluent in?0

They are looking for English speaking UK raters atm and so most of us from the last 2 weeks intake will be English and probably not bilingual. You only need to be bilingual for the linguist posts. The only thing we know for sure, is that we know nothing0

Just wanted to check in and say good luck to those taking the exam and congrats to those who have just passed.
You need to be prepared to put time in over and above the standard 10 hours per week for further study - trust me you'll need to keep learning constantly.
As for self-employment you'll need to declare it within 3 months of starting and keep a tax deduction to one side if necessary ready to pay back, especially if you're already working full-time.A rough idea if you have no tax allowance left would be to put 25% aside for the taxman. However, you MAY be able to offset a little for internet use.

Fortunally I passed the part 1 yesterday and I'm gonna take the exam part 2 soon. I think it takes very long time. Maybe 8 to 10 hours? I'll let you know if I pass it.0 -

Good luck with part 2 Balebale. It is a long one but gets easier as you go through it and get used to it.
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO TAKE TIME TO POST COMPETITIONS
