Does anyone know why UK raters are limited to 11 months? Some people around the web think it is related to some kind of employment law. There are a few people who post on another forum who say they are UK raters in their second year, which seems to contradict.

It's somewhat annoying because it seems US raters can work for as long as they are required (some being being with Lionbridge for 5 years).

I'm not sure and also wondered why. I did see the reason being the changes to employment after 12 months, but after looking into this, I cannot see anything that changes after being contracted (remember no one is employed by the company, everyone is self employed) for 12 months.

It seems odd; the people that get through the year are clearly well trained and decent raters (else they'd be kicked) and so getting rid of them makes no sense from a business point of view, so there must be a good reason.

I have managed to get the email that contains the supplier portal and i have put it my bank details etc. I am just confused as to what happens next, they havent said anything about starting any rating tasks, will i get another email?

Also can i just check, do i need to sign up as self employed right now? I have read that Lionbridge check this at the start, or do i have 3 months to sign up as self employed?

You will get other emails but if you go back to where you did the exam you may be able to do some work

teacosy84: it does say there is maintenance on the vendor portal, that is probably all it is.

Hi, i am a new rater as well and i just started looking at the tasks today after receiving all the links and details yesterday.

I have been checking for the tasks i have been learning about but there are only new ones that im not familiar with.

Should i be doing the new tasks? or is it worth waiting?

dhompson, you will want to do all the tasks you receive. Don't worry you will get better as you go, and the variety keeps things interesting. They will give some leeway for the first few weeks so just take your time and keep going over the various guidelines.

I would recommend editing your post as stating the names of tasks is against the NDA and they will not appreciate this if they see it.

Well i thought i was going to get quite a bit in today, but after doing just 5 minutes i got "no tasks available". Is this normal? it has been like this so far all day. So far i have done 5 mins ever since i started.
